Reader Request: Researching Thrifted Items

researching thrift store brands

Reader Susan had this fantastic question:

How do you go about finding information on thrifted items that seem to have come from nowhere? About a month ago, I thrifted the most wonderful pair of black leggings/slim pants, and I would love to get another pair … but Google as I may, I can’t track down any information about the brand or where it might be sold. The label inside the pants reads “Schmattas 18+”, and that brings up exactly nothing useful in an online search. (At least, I think that’s what it says. What I read as “schmattas” is in some kind of less-than-totally clear font.) The size and care tags are still there, but don’t have any information other than what you’d expect. read more

Gracey Wears: Red Shoes

I have never been a red shoe type of gal.  I have always, for whatever reason, preferred blue shoes.  And then I met these:

Fidji V623 Sandals

I think it was probably the scalloped edges that did me in.  But, the totally walk-able heel isn’t hurting matters.  Or my feet.

I mean, you can wear them with shirtdresses: read more

For the Love of Vintage

IMJ_VinLove

Hello there, I’m so happy to have the opportunity to share another post with you! I thought long and hard about what I wanted to discuss this time around and I decided that it’s high time that I really opened up my heart to you! 🙂 Let’s talk “first loves”! To be more specific, I’m thinking about my very ‘first style love,’ which is none other than V I N T A G E!!!

IMJ_VinLove

I recently teamed up with several of my favorite vintage style bloggers for a joint blog post (see here). I started thinking about my style journey over the years, and one thing has remained positively consistent: My love for vintage fashion and style. Although it is totally accurate that at times I shop from so called high-end retailers, I also shop mainstream retail sales, final clearance racks, last calls, estate sales, garage sales, swap parties, hand me downs, and thrift/consignment stores. In short, I shop just about EVERYWHERE! Nonetheless, vintage fashion has hands down been my favorite style genre for 20+ years.  The love that I have for vintage fashion/accessories is not going to change. See examples of my vintage looks here, here, here, and here. read more
