Dressed for: A Busy Saturday

I wore this for a full Saturday’s worth of LOTT fun, walking the fellows through speed networking, updating their LinkedIn profiles, practicing public speaking, and discussing parameters for professional and interview dress. We have gotten some wonderfully warm days lately, but I wouldn’t say we’re totally past tights-wearing weather just yet. However, we LOTT it up in a St. Paul office building basement and it can get pretty warm in there after five or six hours, so I braved bare legs. I saw this combination – chartreuse, denim, leopard, and red – in some magazine ages ago, and have been looking for some way to make it work myself ever since. My matchy leanings made me double up on the red (brooch, shoes) and leopard (belt, bag) to create some unity, and I love the retro feel that this repetition creates. read more

So chartreuse. It’s the color that got made fun of THE MOST when I was growing up. I mean, for one, it’s a pretty amusing word to say. For another, the 70s had just ended and I think a lot of people – my parents included – were suffering from chartreuse overload. But right now, I’m loving this acid tone and fascinated by how well it works with a variety of other colors. I feel like it’s been a color underdog for so long, and is finally getting some love from the style world. read more
