I own maybe three actual lipsticks. Although I love the look on others, I tend to stick to glosses and balms for myself unless I’m getting dolled up for a fancy event. My lips are sensitive and dry easily, and I’m yet to find a true lipstick that works for me. But I adore lip STUFF, and thought I’d share a few of my picks for lip color and lip care products:
Wax-based balms don’t do much to moisturize my lips, but this guy isn’t quite as drying as others. This line of lip shimmers comes in an array of gorgeous colors, but Raisin is my fave. I wear this color in most of my outfit shots, though I’ll often layer a gloss over it, too.
This was a total impulse buy around my birthday, and it has turned out to be such a boon. This color is fantastically natural-looking on me. Like my own lip color, slightly darkened and enhanced. Smells great, feels great, looks amazing.
If I need lasting color, I turn to this lovely stain. It claims to be moisturizing, but still dries me out … albeit considerably less than every other stain I’ve tried. I layer on a bit of lip balm before and after applying, which seems to help. This color looks super dark, but goes on plummy and lovely.
Benefit Ultra Shines Lip Shine in Back To The Fuchsia– $18
The two actual lipsticks that I have are both fuchsia, so if I’m feeling bold, I’ll apply a thin layer, blot, and then add this gorgeous gloss. It’s full of GLITTER, people. But it’s subtle, I swear. Just shimmers sensuously in the light. This gloss looks great on its own, too.
