Uniform Behavior

Business Casual Uniform 1

On those workday mornings when I find myself up against the wall time-wise, my Business Casual Uniforms save the day. I’m fortunate in that on non-meeting days, jeans are acceptable in my workplace, but I try to keep the overall look polished. Here I’ve paired with a simple tee, black knit jacket and low-heeled patent pumps.

I love mixing a bit of shine and sparkle with my denim, here have added some rhinestone earrings, a gold watch and cuff.

Yes, I have a go to uniform: sheath dress and shrug, cute flats and must mix style and texture in my jewelry selections.

You look smart and comfortable. Put together effortlessly.

You strike the perfect note, or rather, chord! And you make it look easy.

This is my ideal casual uniform – you will find me in some version of this every single casual Friday. For regular office days, substitute dressy work pants for the jeans and there you go.

It’s funny, I read so many style blogs and tend to walk away feeling like I am a boring dresser because I have a uniform – but I can’t get dressed in the morning if I don’t have a uniform in mind. I like to add interest with jewelry and scarves but I also need to keep the clothing simple. I feel like I should be more creative and mix and match more, but your outfit up there is basically my idea of style perfection. So maybe I should stop worrying about mixing and matching so much. đŸ˜€

What a great outfit! This is really a wonderful example of effortless chic – polished, elegant, simple and perfect for so many occasions. Also, I absolutely love your blonde hair color – you glow! It is just so right for you.

Just had to say I love the blond hair on you — I liked the red but had no idea how great you would look as a blond — haircut is perfect too!

    Sophie, thank you!

Sarah, I’ve worried about the same thing (being boring in my choices) but I do think accessories are key.

    Marsha, thank you!

LaTonya, thanks! While some days it’s fun to get creative with outfits, when time is tight there’s a lot going for “effortless.” đŸ˜‰

    Patti, thanks so much!

One of my “no-brainer” work uniforms is a solid-color fitted turtleneck sweater and a black a-line knee-length skirt (I have a wool one, a tulle one, and one with a hint of sheen). If I have time/brain power to do so, I’ll add a statement necklace or a scarf. In winter, I’ll add solid colored tights for a color blocked look.
