The weather is yet to turn chilly, but we’ve reached the point in the season where I feel flat-out weird wearing sandals. I know that certain climates support open-toed footwear year-round, but I’ve lived in a four-season world for most of my life and by mid-September I want my feet covered. This is my own bizarre quirk, and nothing I expect anyone else to adhere to, of course!

This necklace and dress were bought more than a year apart, but I’ve worn them together about four times in the past month. Such a perfect pairing. I’ve tried the dress with and without a belt and feel like it’s got enough going on up top without adding any contrast at the fairly high waist. It’s an easy comfortable piece that quickly became a go-to. And it also is a natural match for these snappy Tieks flats, which are of the foldable/packable variety. A great invention for those of us who start the day optimistically in heels, and need relief by mid-afternoon. Not that I’d know anything about that. Hem hem …

Dressing it Down

Admittedly, this outfit sort of screams autumn. Then again, the weather in San Francisco sort of feels like autumn all year round, so it makes sense to dress accordingly. Last week it dipped down into the low 50’s during the day and the entire city freaked out; this week it’s back in the 60’s and 70’s, and all is right with the world again.

Pairing this structured dress with the relaxed military jacket and boots strikes the perfect note for my generally casual office. The bright accessories added some contrast against the subdued colors.
