My loungewear is oversized, shabby, and entirely inconsistent with my non-lounge style. It consists of a pair of Husband Mike‘s discarded pajama pants, a gigantic U of M sweatshirt, and a pair of fake UGGs. Know why? Because I live in a drafty-ass bungalow built in 1925, and two of my housemates are my beloved cats. Lounging ain’t lounging unless I’ve got Simon or Rowan purring away in my lap, and since they both shed and knead there’s no way I’m shelling out for cashmere pants and a flyaway cardigan.

But I’m fascinated by the advent of chic, sophisticated loungewear and wonder if any of you fab femmes partake … somebody out there must be wearing the cashmere pants and flyaway cardis that I’m shunning.

When you’re in for the night, what’s your go-to loungewear ensemble? Do pets, kids, or other factors affect your choices? Ever considered the fancy stuff, or do you stick to basic sweats?
