I’ve got a lot of fun projects and events in the cooker right now, so I feel like I’m in a constant state of gearing up. This dress is one I picked out from Bella Boutique in advance of an event I’ll be hosting there on July 24 (details below). The shop is packed with cute dresses, great layering basics, and loads of fun accessories so it was tough to winnow it down to just one item! But this dress has some of my favorite colors – rich purple and vibrant magenta – and is perfect to wear now but will also transition beautifully into fall and winter wear. A winner all around.
If you’re in the Twin Cities, I’d LOVE to see you at Bella Boutique on the evening of July 24 for this FREE event!
I wore this mix of jewel tones to the recent Unlikely Entrepreneurs event, where the talented and visionary Nancy Rosenbaum interviewed me about my circuitous and odd career path. We taped the event and I hope to have some video to post in a few weeks once I’m back from my San Francisco trip and a little less overwhelmed. It was fascinating to have someone walk me through my various jobs chronologically, talk about my choices, and see exactly how unplanned most of my working life has been. Seems like every time I cook up a concrete plan, the Universe throws me a major curveball and I have to scrap it. Works for me. I feel like one of my major life lessons has been “Learn to roll with it,” and I am.
Anyone else feel like career planning never works but hard work and trust pull you through? Or do you rely on a far-reaching vision for your career goals and stick to it?
I wore this for a full Saturday’s worth of LOTT fun, walking the fellows through speed networking, updating their LinkedIn profiles, practicing public speaking, and discussing parameters for professional and interview dress. We have gotten some wonderfully warm days lately, but I wouldn’t say we’re totally past tights-wearing weather just yet. However, we LOTT it up in a St. Paul office building basement and it can get pretty warm in there after five or six hours, so I braved bare legs. With all that gesticulating and chatting and getting revved about women’s leadership, I was plenty warm.
Gotta say I’ve reached the point where I certainly feel done with tights. I’m weary of having to consider what color I want my legs to be each day …
How about you? Are you a tights-wearer and if so, have you reached your tights-wearing threshold for the season? Is the weather cooperating with your preferences? (Hope so!)
