I’ve got a bonus outfit from last week to share …
Cashmere wrap, a gift – similar
Leather sheath dress, via eBay – similar in faux leather, similar vintage
Tights, Target (no longer available) – similar
Boots, Jeffrey Campbell X-ray (no longer available) – here’s a pair on eBay
Necklace, on loan from Bionic Unicorn
I wore this to attend Samantha Rei’s solo show at Hell’s Kitchen, which was incredibly fun and INCREDIBLY inspiring. Samantha is a local clothing designer, and most of her garments have a bit of a steampunk edge to them, so lots of nipped waists, corset-style tops, and big full skirts. Just my kinda stuff. I fell in love with just about everything that came down the runway – including some high-waisted bloomers that just about knocked my socks off – and even got to meet the designer. She is gorgeous and funny and exudes creativity from every pore. It was a blast. (See some great images of the looks right here.)
AND! Just to make the whole thing feel even more glamorous, my friend Kristin of Bionic Unicorn jewelry lent me this unbearably gorgeous necklace to wear for the event:
How amazing is THAT? She asked me afterward if I wanted to hang onto it for any upcoming events, and I thought to myself, “Hmmm, like going to the office?” I tried to dredge up another excuse to borrow and wear this amazing piece but failed. Which means it’ll be up for sale in her shop soon, if you’re eyeing it for yourself!
Lori’s has opened up a special sale section of “last pairs,” and I caved. I ordered these booties in a grayish-brown weathered leather. They arrived in black, and it turns out they’d been mislabeled. I considered demanding a refund, but in the end I kept them. They’re incredibly well made, I adore the buckle detail, and I could think of at least five great outfits they’d complement. So in my collection they’ll stay!
