Dressed for: The Shoes

Already Pretty outfit featuring yellow button-front shirt, black ponte pants, Pour La Victoire sandals, Rebecca Minkoff Logan bag, stud bracelet

Shirt – thrifted – similar (fluoro yellow)
Pants – courtesy Karen Kane
Sandals – Pour la Victoire Felicia (no longer available) – similar colors – similar heel/shape
Studded wrap bracelet – Streets Ahead via Ideeli – similar
Earrings – The Wellington Boot
Bag – Rebecca Minkoff Logan Crossbody via eBay

Like many of my favorite wardrobe pieces, these colorblocked sandals have limited application. But I don’t even care. I am more than happy to dress around them – most likely in a matchy ensemble like this one – just so I can bask in their shiny, colorful, arty glory a few times each summer.

Got any “limited application” pieces in your wardrobe that remain favorites?

I love your hair so much this way. I know you love and prefer to wear it straight, but it’s so fluffy. I feel like Agnes in Despicable Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82utG7Q3G_k I would also wear those sandals once a week – they are their own fab statement!

Great shoes! The ASOS pair you referred to are pretty fabulous too. I wore bright blue suede sandals today just because I love wearing them : >

I have a pair of St. John sky high, round toe, hot pink stilettos. I am not bold enough to wear them with lots of color, so I usually save them for days I wear black or gray (which is not that often because I LOVE color)!

    LOVE THE HAIR!!!

I was just thinking about this subject- I just thrifted a blazer that is an odd color and is a bit of a risk. But it was brand new, $10, and the dressbarn tag said $139.99. My question is, when do you buy something that doesn’t “go” with anything you have, and take a risk that you’ll find something to pair with it in the future?

Good question, Jill, and one I think really varies from person to person. It can be really tough to guess which items will work into your wardrobe despite being oddballs and which ones will earn their keep. I touched on this a bit in this week’s post on price vs. value: http://www.alreadypretty.com/2013/08/reader-request-price-versus-value.html

I think the risk is best taken in two cases: With something you ABSOLUTELY love despite it not being an easy fit with your style, and something that’s super affordable. Like your thrifted blazer. BUT! Both are still risky. I work with many clients who end up with closets full of unworn oddballs due to shopping this way.

Sorry I don’t have a more definitive answer! I’ve got a post coming up about predicting wardrobe workhorses that might help somewhat.

Oh yes I have. And I think you are perfectly right to give the stage to these wonderful shoes. They deserve it.
