*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*
Jenni requested a few picks for empire waist sweaters, sweater dresses, or tunics, so here we go:
The North Face Saguaro Sweater Dress – was $99, now $69.99
This empire-waist ribbed sweater dress is an alpaca/acrylic/wool blend for extra coziness. Since it’s in a fitted silhouette, it’ll layer beautifully: Add a cardigan, blazer, or jacket for extra warmth. Available in this heather gray, oatmeal heather, and dark purple heather in sizes XS – XL. Size availability varies by color.
Caslon Double V-Neck Tunic Sweater – was $69, now $41.40
This tunic doesn’t have a formal waistline, but due to the placement of the color blocks it has an empire feel to it. It’s a cotton/rayon/nylon blend so it might be a bit lightweight for winter wear on its own, but would look fab with a cozy black or navy scarf. Available in sizes XS- XL.
Denim & Co. V-Neck Long Sleeve One Button Cardigan – was $36.50, now $27.36
The vast majority of empire waist sweaters are designed for maternity or nursing, but there are a few cardigans out there. This chunky, machine washable tunic-length cardi has a high waist with a single button closure and a deep v neckline. Available in this gray, pale pink, black, red, raspberry, navy, and dark teal in sizes XS – 3X. Size availability varies by color.
Other not-currently-on-sale resources for empire waist knitwear:
- Boden – Not much on the site just now, but Boden designers love knitwear AND empire waistlines, so check back seasonally.
- eBay
- Since eBay allows you to narrow down search criteria to a fine point, tracking down sweaters and dresses with a specific detail like an empire waist is a snap.
- Anthropologie – Hmm, again not much on offer at this moment, but Anthro pretty reliably stocks empire waist dresses and keeps sweater dresses around well through spring. Definitely check brick-and-mortar stores, too.

The timing on this post was funny to me since I had *just* made a random comment on my Facebook about liking empire waist clothing in spite of the potential maternity-wear appearance and fashion “rules” that say petites and short-waisted women shouldn’t wear them
