Bag – Kate Spade Carlisle Street Sylvie Satchel via eBay
This bag has been haunting my dreams for months, but with a breathtakingly high price point I’d put it out of my mind. Then my birthday came, with some birthday cash. And an eBay search that showed me a brand new polka dot Sylvie at 60% off retail. And I caved. It’s been making me giddy to carry this graphic, funky bag since the day it came into my hot little hands.
Do you have any printed or graphic bags or purses? What drew you to them?

I love this color combination! It also reminds me I need to find a new bag. My go-to bag for class, work, travel, everything really started to fall apart today. I know where my birthday money is going!
Happy belated birthday, Sal! The bag is adorable–Kate Spade has been knocking it out of the park lately.
I was about to say I favour colourful bags over patterned ones myself, but realized that I have a leopard Badgley Mischka crossbody bag and a polka dot J. Crew clutch, so…invalid statement.
I do. I’m a big fan of LeSports Sac bags.
They’re challenging to purchase because the prints always look idiotic. It’s not the print that’s the important aspect, it’s the colors. So if you can get past silly little characters or designs and just think about whether the colors in the bag will go with others things then it’s easier.
I like them because they’re light, durable and often come with many pockets.
I love this outfit so much!!! LOVE it I tell ya!!!
Fabulous dotty bag! I’d be wearing that beauty every day : >
love it!
I’ve had a Dalmatian print bag from Boden for several years. It makes me smile, and reminds me of a wonderful dog we once had in the family. I also kind of like the ironic Cruella reference.
Love everything about this look!! That collar is beautiful.
That’s your second outfit in about a week that’s made me think I need a blue A-line skirt! (Except your link goes to a search for “purple tulip skirt.” Is it actually purple? If so, I already have one.)
It’s a very bright purple, but boy does it ever photograph blue!
Do you want a sale picks post for electric blue a-lines?
Thanks for the offer! How about royal blue or cobalt blue a-lines? That’s the color it looks on my screen. (I wouldn’t go so far as to call it electric.)
Since your skirt is purple, I think I’ll check my own purple skirt against some warmer purple tights. It hadn’t occurred to me to combine those, but I trust your color judgment.
Looking seriously fab
What a bright fun color combo!!!
Congratulations on your new bag! (I love getting a new bag.)
I just realized I have more printed bags than I thought I had (lol). I have a patent “Girls” printed tote (fun scenes of fashionable girls shopping which often draws a comment from someone), a couple of python print bags, a couple of metallic print embroidered bags, and 5 animal print bags (2 giraffe printed totes, 1 tiger-striped tote, 1 faux fur cheetah spot print bag, and 1 hand-tooled elephants print bag ).
I have on my wish-list for 2 Dooney & Burke printed totes (the color splash design which looks like paint splashes and the flower print design).
If I buy a printed or graphic bag, it usually is because I like the print design itself, the shading of the color within that design, or the texture accompanying the print (faux fur, embroidery, the raised snakeskin diamond texture on the bag). A friend gave me the elephant print bag because she knew I collected elephants.
I have a printed bag, a Vera Bradley that was a gift from my mother-in-law. It sat unused for years (still in its wrappings) until the strap on my favorite bag broke on my way out the door to work and I had to grab something to fling “bag stuff” into in a hurry. It’s okay, but it is not anything I would ever choose for myself unless I were making a tote for hobby supplies. I prefer a solid black bag, preferably leather.
Love your bag, Sal. And that beaded collar is perfection.
HA! I have that same bag – in the larger tote version. I too saw it in the first fall fashion mags in August and it was haunting me… but the price too was too much. A friend alerted me to a major KS sale and I took the plunge. It was the most I’ve ever spent on a bag, but I don’t regret a penny — I use it every day, it is amazingly versatile, whimsical yet well-made enough to look professional and it makes me smile whenever I look over at those polka dots. Happy birthday!
