Insomniac Sale Picks: Petite Ponte Pants

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Trystan requested a few picks for petite ponte pants, so here we go:

Charter Club Straight-Leg Ponte-Knit Tuxedo Pant – was $64, now $30.99

From what I can tell, the tuxedo stripe on the outer leg isn’t terribly noticeable. No one will ask where you’ve left your top hat and tails, promise. This pair features a 10″ rise, zipper and hook-front closure, and clean finishing with no pockets or belt loops. 29.5″ inseam. Available in petite sizes 2 – 16.

INC International Concepts Curvy-Fit Bootcut Ponte-Knit Pant – was $69.50, now $34.99

I generally prefer a slim-fitting ponte pant for myself, but bootcuts are comfy and flattering, too! Pair them with a printed blouse and dark booties for a fabulous office-ready look. These have a lower rise (8″), and feature a curvy, contoured fit through hips and thighs. 30″ inseam. Belt loops and pockets. Available in petite sizes 0 – 14.

7th Avenue Bootcut Ponte Pull-On Pant – was $39.95, now $23.97
WITH CODE 3649

This pull-on bootcut pair may seem more casual, and they are … but pair with a blouse and blazer or sweater and statement necklace and they’ll dress up beautifully. The waistband will be well covered by most tops. 29.5″ inseam. Available in petite sizes XS – XL in this heather gray and in black. (Sold out in S and M in gray.)

Not Your Daughter’s Jeans Petite Cindy Ponte Slim Leg Pant – was $98, now $72.99

These slim legs are finished similarly to jeans with four-pocket styling, front fly zipper, and button front closure. My NYDJ pants are described as slim leg, but fit more like straight legs so these may be a bit roomier than they appear. Available in petite sizes 2 -18 in black and dark gray. Price and availability vary by size/color.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for petite ponte pants:

  1. eBay – Mostly used, of course, but lots of styles, sizes, and colors.
  2. Macy’s – My own burgundy ponte pants are from Macy’s, so I knew they’d have options! I’m seeing 30+ offerings including colorful ones like this rich cobalt pair.
  3. Nordstrom – 14 options including skinny, cropped, and straight.
  4. Amazon – I know, no real surprises in this list … but few specialty retailers have more than one or two options! And Amazon has 26, including plus size options!

I just ordered 2 pair of ponte pants at a great price from Sierra Trading Post. They’re by Two Dog, and all the reviews said they ran short. I don’t have ‘em yet, but I’m hopeful they will be great petite ponte pants.

Thanks, Sal, for all these cool ideas!

You know, I’ve been meaning to ask you to do a plus-size version of this. I’ve been wanting a pair of ponte knit pants for my new job (since I can no longer wear jeans), as they seem comfortable like jeans, and not too formal…

I gotta say, since when is 29-inch inseams petite? Retailers assume we’re all tall or wear heels, even in the petite department! As a fairly average-sized-looking person (not noticeably small like my 4’10” friend) with a 26″ inseam, it drives me batty.

I’m short and can’t wear normal length pants without hemming, but I’ve discovered a good trick for buying regular pants. I buy “ankle pants” which, on taller ladies, would be too short to pass as real pants. But for me, the 29 in inseam on ankle pants is perfect. (Sorry, dustwindbun). I’m wearing my lands end ponte ankle pants today!

Ha! Pam, this is usually my go-to plan as well – I just wait until the crop that’s in fashion is just a tad higher, more high-waters than just ankle for summer, or ankle and heavy shoes in winter. It doesn’t work as well with these kinds of slim-leg pants, but it’s brilliant for wide-legs!

May I request a search for ponte pants in tall sizes? A 33+ inseam is hard to find for these, especially the slim cuts.

Of course! Will tackle this as soon as I can.
