Insomniac Sale Picks: Opaque White Cotton Knit Shirts

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Sheilah requested a few picks for opaque white cotton knit shirts, so here we go:

Woolrich Laureldale Long-Sleeve Tee – was $32, now $31.95

Not much of a sale, I know, but still counts! Woolrich is a venerable brand that relies on a loyal customer base that expects solid quality, so there’s very little chance that their whites will be see-through. This super-basic crew is 95% cotton, 5% spandex and length falls below the hip on most figures. Available in sizes XS – XXL as well as XS – XL petite. Also comes in teal, taupe, steel blue, ivory, black, mulberry, red, and olive.

Gap Essential Long Sleeve Crewneck T – was $16.95, now $11.87
with code GAPBONUS

I’m posting earlier than usual since this coupon code expires at midnight, but all the Gap brands are gonna be running near-constant specials through Christmas, so this shirt will go on sale again. Gap can certainly be guilty of creating transparent whites, but this 100% cotton tee comes highly rated and seems fairly sturdy. Much of tonight’s post is built on educated guesses since I haven’t been able to test each style in person, but many of my own white long-sleeved tees are Gap, so the brand is a good bet in my book. Available in sizes XS – XXL. Also comes in heather gray, brown, black, and navy. Also available in petite and tall sizes.

Bella Long-Sleeve Crew Neck Jersey T-Shirt – was $22, now $13.35

I could only find tiny photos of this shirt on a model, but I own lots of Bella Brand knits and they’re good quality. Since this shirt is 100% cotton, it has a better chance of being totally opaque than fiber blends. This shirt is sized using juniors sizing, so order up. Available in sizes S – XXL (I take a size L in most and am a size 8 on top). Also comes in black, brown, navy, pink, red, heather gray, baby blue, and olive.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for opaque white cotton knit shirts:

  1. Orvis – Lots of simple options, all of them crafted from thicker cotton weaves.
  2. Land’s End – This old school retailer is NOT gonna make a long-sleeved tee that’s see-through!
  3. Eddie Bauer – Beware of “slub jersey” which is generally similar to burnout materials. Otherwise, most tees should be good and opaque.

I can vouch for the opaqueness of the Gap Favorite tee in white! I own several and love them.

Not a bargain per se, but I vouch for Petit Bateau all the way.

For Canadians: I know that Costco currently has this exact type of shirt on for sale. Company by Ellen Tracy, $10, really nice fabric, made in Canada. It’s awesome.
