Insomniac Sale Picks: Warm Cardigans for Evening Wear

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Elizabeth requested a few picks for warm cardigans for evening wear, so here we go:

Charter Club Long-Sleeve Sequin Cardigan – was $69, now $55.20
With code SHINE

Sequins are a classic choice, but some options can feel weighed-down by their embellishments. This cardigan has scattered sequins, cozy long sleeves, and an unfussy collar that will allow for statement jewelry. Available in this ivory and in black in sizes XS – XL.

Bead-Embellished Cropped Cardigan – was $49.95, now $24.97

With three-quarter sleeves and an open neckline, this option isn’t quite as warm as its sequined friend, but is a shape and design that will likely work well with high-waisted evening dresses. Plus shorter sleeves allow for bracelets! Available in this blue, dark gold, and black in sizes XS- XL. Size availability varies by color and black is only available in XS.

Boucle Crop Cardigan – was $39.90 – $41.90, now $19.90 – $21.90

If sparkles and shine aren’t your thing and cashmere is out of your price range, boucle might just work. This cardigan also featured 3/4 sleeves, but boucle is typically lofty and warm. Available in black, ivory, and plum in sizes XS – XXXL.

Croft And Barrow Lurex Ruana – was $48, now $32.99

Elizabeth actually requested any sort of warm cover-up that would work for evening, so I’m casting a vote for this metallic ruana. It’s longer and more dramatic than a wrap or shawl, cozier than most lightweight cover-ups, and shot through with sparkle for that extra bit of fancy. Comes in this gold and also silver.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for warm cardigans for evening wear:

  1. Boden – With lots of embellished options like this jeweled placket cardi, plus cropped cashmere in nine lovely colors, Boden is a great bet.
  2. eDressme – Some options are warmer than others, but this formalwear clearinghouse has an entire category dedicated to shrugs, cardigans, and wraps for evening.
  3. Anthropologie – Since this retailer specializes in interesting and embellished items, it’s a good bet for an eye-catching cover-up. This artfully detailed black cardigan is just lovely.

  • Bravo! Great suggestions, all! Since the vast majority of evening things are sleeveless, this is a great helper. Another one might be an evening jacket in something like satin but that might be difficult to find; probably something for people who sew, though.

  • Bekka

Is anyone else drooling over the necklace in that second pick?

Not sure if you’ve done a sale pick on this yet, but I’d love to be able to find other necklaces sort of like the J. Crew bubble necklace.

  • I like this evening wear collection, All are awesome. I have enjoyed a lot reading this article, very nicely written, I found some useful information, Thanks for sharing.

Sal, thank you for the suggestions! These are great. I particularly love the ruana, which seems like a great way to get away with warm/cozy/comfy at a more formal event where I’d usually be chilly and uncomfortable.
