Insomniac Sale Picks: Comfortable Block-heel Flats

by Sally on September 11, 2012 · 8 comments

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Ignorant Awareness requested a few picks for comfortable block-heel flats, so here we go:

Naturalizer Leana – was $85.95, now $68.75

With a 0.75″ block heel and a cushioned footbed, this is the winner of the night. Available in this black leather, chocolate brown leather, and a silvery metallic in US sizes 4 – 12 US, including some narrow and wide sizes. Size availability varies by color, as does price.

Indigo By Clarks Aggie Flat - was $100, now $74.99 – $99.99

This is one of the hardest requests I’ve had to date, so pickings will be slim. This is a terrific flat by a comfort-centric company with a little block heel … but it’s only available in sizes US 5 – 7 in either this snake print or a black snake print. There are also a few pairs available on eBay.

Ellen Tracy Alto Flat – was $69, now $59.95

Captoes are all the rage, and this neutral color palette will be great for fall and winter. They lack a padded footbed, but have a flexible sole and are reviewed by most as being comfortable. Also limited in size run – US sizes 8 – 9.5.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for block-heel flats:

  1. Amazon – Great deals on comfort brands like Clarks and Born.
  2. J.Crew – Lots of block heels, though J.Crew shoes aren’t famed for their padded footbeds. If you love the look, consider a style from this line with an insert.
  3. Naturalizer – Block heels in traditional ballet flats and other heights as well.

I’m not 100% sure if this is what you are looking for, but maybe French Sole Shoes have something? http://www.frenchsoleshoes.com/category.php

Their Helium and Heroes styles look about right.

How do you style the last two? I have trouble with tights/hose when the shoe is light-ish. Can you help me here? Thanks!!

For the snakeskin heather gray or black would work well. The cap-toes would also work with black since there are black accents – either black opaques or patterned black tights!

Also Beautifeel. I’m a broken record on this brand, and wholly uncompensated FWIW:).

I have been looking for something just like that Ellen Tracey flat, but in a heel.

I have those Indigo Aggie shoes and I love them. Their shape is very cute and fresh. When I wear them with my black cigarette pants I feel like I am channeling Audrey Hepburn a little.
