Insomniac Sale Picks: Large Leather Crossbody Bags

by Sally on June 6, 2012 · 17 comments

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Rebecca requested a few picks for large leather crossbody bags, so here we go:

The Sak Pax Leather Large Crossbody – was $129, now $128.95

Save five whole cents on this baby! Hey, a sale’s a sale. At 12.5″ x 3.25″ x 13.25″, this black leather bag is fabulously roomy, and features a shorter strap for shoulder carrying, and a longer, adjustable one for crossbody use.

Lucky Brand Hollywood & Vine Leather Large Crossbody – was $229, now $205.99

Ordinarily, this bag might be a little boho for my taste, but dang, friends. I just LIKE it! How fabulous would this be with a white tee and jeans? Or a floral dress and boots. (Must stop. Don’t need boho crossbody.) Extra large at 16″ x 11″ x 3.25″ with a back wall zip pocket and front wall slip pockets.

Nino Bossi Large Cross Body Bag – was $265, now $212

This is the smallest of the large, but still a decent size at 12″ x 12″ x 2″. I am a huge fan of the dual external pockets – great for phone and lip balm access. This bag comes in lovely lemon yellow, red, pale blue, tan, gray, pale green, and chocolate brown.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for large leather crossbody bags:

  1. Fossil – Nobody does a crossbody quite like Fossil. The Maddox Organizer is a great bet. If full price is too much for ya, check eBay.
  2. eBags.com - A great resource for bags of all kinds, including crossbody styles.
  3. Hobo International – A great brand all-around, and a great go-to for long-strap bags. I adore my In the Bag crossbody!

Oooh I have a insomniac sale picks request! More posts JUST of this. Large leather cross body bags are literally my favorite. So stylishly versatile while the most comfortable and useful for my needs. I’m over here swooning over the black and yellow bags up there.

Duluth Trading also has a nice selection of leather bags. Try the following impossibly-long URL: http://women.duluthtrading.com/store/womens/womens-collections/womens-lifetime-leather-bags/womens-lifetime-leather-bags.aspx

Wow. The Lifetime Messenger is GORGEOUS! I’ve seen loads of Duluth Pack, but not Duluth Trading. Thanks, Katie!

I love the Fossil Maddox – and some colors are on sale (like ever-practical navy). Your Hobo crossbody is superb. LOL at the five cent sale – they couldn’t reduce it by a dollar? : >

This post is too perfectly timed. I’m searching for a new purse, large enough to carry lots but crossbody too. It’s a more difficult search than I had hoped. Hopefully I’ll find something within your resources that I can afford and that can be shipped to Canada! Great post as usual!

Tignanello and B Makowsky also make large crossbody bags (they make all sizes of the crossbody style). I own 2 large Makowsky ones and 1 small version of his as well.

I do love my Sak crossbody. Mine are smaller than these, but if my purse was any bigger, I would put so much strain on my shoulder! I have a tendency to bring everything with me…sigh. Saks seem to be constructed pretty well, though!

Hi Sally. Can you fix the link for the Nino Bossi? I want to buy it in mint or gray (and have you get the credit) but it goes to a “cannot find this” page. It’s the perfect size — big enough to fit an iPad but not so huge you could fit a laptop. Plus, outside pockets! Thanks for the great post!

Zoink! Yes, let me see if I can get a working link – sorry, Emme.

Shoot. I can’t generate an affiliate link that works.

If you click through the broken link and get redirected to eBags, you can search for Nino Bossi Large Cross Body Bag. Or this is a direct link to the product page: http://www.ebags.com/product/nino-bossi/large-cross-body-bag/237436?productid=10198559

That’s terrible that the affiliate link won’t work! Thanks for trying and finding the direct link!

My large crossbody bag is a vintage Coach Whitney (actually I have 2, in red and navy) — available on ebay and on etsy quite easily. It’s approximately 12″ x12″ x4″, really a classic messenger style with 3 “pocket” areas in the bag. Absolutely love them!

I have been flirting with the Duluth Trading messenger bag for weeks now, but I really need a bag with more organization and structure. I am afraid the Duluth Trading bag, although it is certainly amazing, will squish up when not stuffed full. I decided to peruse Etsy and found exactly what I have been searching for at Adeleshop (for those of you in Canada, Adeleshop is in Halifax). Just ordered the bag and can’t wait for it to arrive. Some of their items are on sale right now too.

Hilariously, I just completed a weeks-long quest for large leather crossbody bags. I finally settled on the Fossil Maddox satchel, which is really capacious without seeming overly huge if you’re carrying just your everydays. I love it so much I bought it in three colors – Sea Green (a lovely and surprisingly versatile mint), Ochre, and Chestnut. This sucker will carry an iPad, cardigan and water bottle without breaking a sweat. (Plus, I have a nephew named Maddox – how could I not?)

And for a savings tip, check the brick-and-mortar Fossil oultets if there’s one near you. I braved Memorial Day weekend at an outlet mall and was rewarded by a Maddox satchel at half price, and when I decided I liked it enough to go back for another, it was reduced even further. My final price was $78, down from $198!!

(Now if only I could find a steal on the coral one…sigh.)

About 2 weeks ago or so I got a cross body one. I got it at JCP for $40, I got complimented on it and told them it was from JCP. The girls said ‘no way, it looks like a Michael Kors’. Made me smile.:)
