It was completely unintentional, but I combined two beloved hand-me-downs in this outfit.
The blazer came from a former coworker last summer, and it is one of the only linen items I’ve owned that doesn’t make me quiver with irritation over the immediate, visible wrinkles. Something about the relaxed fit makes me want to go with the wrinkly flow.
The bag … well, friends, I’m still a bit amazed by this one. A friend bought this bag on eBay after seeing mine here on the blog, but found that it didn’t suit her needs. So she passed it along to me. Needless to say, I’m extremely grateful to both of my buddies for these amazing pieces!
Have you received any fun hand-me-downs lately?
P.S. I had on a silver cuff bracelet, but I took it off to make typing easier and forgot to put it back on for outfit photos. BLAST!

You look just lovely!

I did that with my jewelry yesterday–came in from a fun photo session to see my ring and bracelet sitting on the table, thought, “blast,” and liked the pictures I took too much to redo them with jewelry on. Your outfit certainly isn’t lacking for all that you forgot the cuff!
Oh, gosh–it was about a month (maybe two?) ago now, I think, that Katie from Interrobangs Anonymous sent me a box stuffed with necklaces, earrings, brooches, and scarves that she thought I would like, now that she’s downsizing her belongings to move to Germany. It was so sweet and unexpected that I got a little teary-eyed looking through everything, and I treasure every bit of it!
How fun! And generous, too.
That bag is beautiful! The color is amazing. You have very good friends, Miss Sally!
The bag is just gorgeous, what a wonderful gift. And I am adoring your new platforms – I hadn’t heard of that brand before, but I am looking for them : >
Do the name of Sal’s shoes make anybody else sing “kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, merry merry king of the bush is heeeeee”??
Yes! Yes! Meeeeee! And I adore that song.
Me too!
Love the bag, and the jacket!
(Gratitude is NEVER extreme!)
She found that bag on eBay???? Jeez I really need to get into this eBay thing because I have been wanting the bag like this that you have since you first debuted it! Lovely use of color Sally!
For sure, Robin! My olive one hails from eBay, too, and was only $99.
I love getting/giving things back and forth with friends. It’s like having a bit of that friend in your wardrobe, even better when it’s something that suits you perfectly.
I have a linen dress that comes from Hobbs – nice but rather expensive shop – which I bought in a charity shop. To my amazement it hardly needs ironing and doesn’t wrinkle – although it is figure skimming rather than fitted which helps. I double checked the label and it really is pure linen – must be some kind of magic linen. Oh and black with white spots which is of course a bonus.
LOVE those shoes – very special! Comfortable?
I love hand me downs. My favorite one ever was a Paco Rabanne jacket.
You look spectacular
Oh that bag; my heart; your sweet friend! Wow.
Love that outfit! I’m so into that aqua/white combination.
