It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.

I loooooove this quote by Maya Angelou. She is so wise.

I sometimes feel like the “big one” amongst friends and family because they’re all size 6 or 8, and I’m a size 10/12, when in fact I’m “average” sized. My adolescent students are amazed that I can run 10 km faster than they can. I’m not just bigger, I’m stronger and faster than they are.

I have to remind myself to stand up straight (shoulders back!) and be the strong woman I am against such societal judgment of size and weight.
