Insomniac Sale Picks: Dark Wash Trouser Jeans

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Jana requested a few picks for dark wash trouser jeans, so here we go:

Eddie Bauer Curvy Fit Trouser Jeans – was $79.95, now $69.95

Jana was specifically hoping for a curvy style, and this pair fits the bill! A bit sleeker than many trouser style jeans, this Eddie Bauer version features clean styling and a nipped-in waist. Available in sizes 2 – 24, with some petite and tall lengths available.

Old Navy The Dreamer Embroidered-Pocket Trouser Jeans – was $34.50, now $29

This pair has a bit of Western flair on the embroidered back pockets, but a clean, dark finish in front. Straight through the hip and thigh with a wider leg opening, for typical trouser jean styling. Available in sizes 0 -20.

Levi’s Double Button Wide Leg Jean – was $58, now $44.99

This style is a bit looser overall, with a wide leg all the way down, but features the clean front and top-entry pockets of a trouser jean. Available in this dark indigo plus two nearly-black washes in size 4 -16.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for dark wash trouser jeans:

  1. Gap – I know, obviously. But they’ve got four great styles right now, including high and low rise options. And I still do love me some Gap jeans.
  2. Nordstrom – Nine lovely pairs, including petite and plus options.
  3. Talbots – All the options are solid, but this side-zip pair is my fave.
  4. And, of course, THRIFT STORES! Now, I know what you’re saying, but trouser jeans have been around a while and a few pairs will show up on the thrift racks. Plus used jeans have been worn and washed. How they fit when you thrift them is how they’ll fit FOREVER. No guessing at how much stretch/give they’ll eventually offer you. • For the Eddie Bauer, be aware that the jeans gape in the back more than the trousers do. The Blakely trousers fit my hip to waist ratio well, but the jeans still have about an inch of extra space in the back.

Yikes, thanks for letting us know!

I have had excellent luck with Ann Taylor Loft trouser jeans. I am on the tall end of petite (5’3″) so the petite sizes run short on the inseam for me. I have picked up a pair last fall and just had them hemmed at my tailor’s shop. They fit my curves quite well (which is a problem for me often) and look fantastic when dressed up for casual Friday or dressed down for a night out!

  • I’ve had a LOT of luck on eBay for Ann Taylor dark-wash trouser jeans – I couldn’t afford them if I had to buy them in a department store, so if anyone out there likes Ann Taylor, I highly recommend doing a few eBay searches. Love those Levi’s, too!

  • Yan

I LOVE those Levi’s! I may need to find those to try on, as they would be awesome for work.

  • If possible, I’d love a post about petite olive, white, or tan colored chinos–wide, skinny, cropped, it doesn’t matter as long as the search includes items under $50. Thanks!
