Insomniac Sale Picks: Striped Sweaters

*In this new late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Aris Merquoni requested a few picks for striped sweaters, so here we go:

Charter Club Striped Cashmere Crew Neck – was $149, now $74.99

Stripes AND cashmere? Yes please! This classic pullover has simple, crew neck styling, darling button detailing at the shoulder, and big bold stripes. This is a 2-ply cashmere for extra warmth and softness, and is available in sizes XS through XL.

Ci Sony by Adi Striped V-neck Sweater – was $46.95, now $38.99

This cutie comes in this olive stripe as well as blue, purple, and red. Looks like this model may be sporting a push-up bra, but that neckline may require a tee or tank layer in some cases, which shouldn’t interfere with the overall fit. This sweater is available from several vendors, but Overstock (linked above) has the widest variety of colors and sizes.

Allsaints Portland Cardigan – was $175, now $87.50

This is definitely the adventure pick of tonight’s group, but dang it’s cool. Allsaints doesn’t rate high on size diversity, but if you’re in their range you can find some marvelously avant-garde items there. This particular sweater is a linen/cotton blend, so it’ll do well in milder climates and/or layered. There’s also a fabulous pullover version that’s a bit less busy looking.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for striped sweaters:

  1. Banana Republic – So many cute, not-on-sale striped sweaters. SO MANY!
  2. Amazon – Cardigans, pullovers, and tunics in every size, material, and price point imaginable. Seriously.
  3. Boden – Actually, many striped tops ARE on sale right now, and striped sweaters and tops are a staple for this British retailer so check often for Spring styles.

  • Striped cashmere! Be still my heart!

I love your site and posts. Thanks! I noticed stripes on clothing are mostly horizontal stripes. We have read about how horizontal stripes may make one look wider. How would you suggest one should wear stripes without looking wider?

    • Sal

It’s mostly about the width of the stripes, and how they’re worn. Generally, smaller stripes are a bit more forgiving. Also wearing tight stripes across an area of your body that makes you self-conscious will simply highlight that area. Wear stripes where you feel best about your body.

Damn, I’d have bought the hell out of that Allsaints one in a 16. Too bad.

I am really enjoying your site and love reading your blog and checking out your outfits. Your style is great and very inspiring. I’ve recently been working on upgrading my style and stepping out of my box a bit. I’ve gotten too casual and am loving amping up the style in my wardrobe but I’m still learning as I go. Would love to see your ideas on shoes – stylish and comfortable wedges and pumps as well as belts for jeans. Thanks.

The striped v-neck called to me, so I bought it in red and black. When I wore it to work yesterday, I got the most compliments I’ve ever gotten on my outfits (and I work in an accounting office – and they noticed!)

    Thanks!
