Insomniac Sale Picks: Petite Plus-sized Jeans

*In this new late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Nicole requested a few picks for petite plus-sized jeans, so here we go:

Avenue Plus Size Petite Santa Fe Bootcut Jean – was $39.90, now $24.99
PLUS use code AV121008 for free shipping on orders over $60

These classic, dark-wash bootcuts come in this blue-black rinse and a truer blue. They’ve got a nice high rise and a gently flared hem. Some reviewers note that these run small, so consider ordering two sizes for fit. Sizes 14P – 26P linked to above, sizes 28P through 32P also available. These have a 29″ inseam.

Woman Within Petite five pocket straight-leg jean – was $39.99, now $14.88

This style gets the award for variety: With a 28″ inseam and lots of stretch, this jean is available in sizes 12P through 38P AND comes in 10 washes, including some pastel colors that would be fun for spring!

Style & Co. Straight Leg – was $59, now $43.99

I wish these were available in a denim wash, too, but they are a fabulous looking straight-leg and available in 14P through 24P so I’m throwing them into the mix. They appear to have a wider leg than the Woman Within straights above, and this wash is much darker and more uniform. Again, a high rise waist (I’m hoping that’s a good thing for everyone – low rise jeans make me SO uncomfortable!), clean styling, and a modern, straight-leg fit. They’ve got a 30″ inseam.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for petite plus-sized jeans:

  1. Talbots – This retailer has an entire petite plus section with lots of great office-friendly staples, but jeans, too! Talbots jeans are among my personal favorites.
  2. Old Navy – Online only offerings, but a good selection of affordable styles in sizes 16 through 30, and 30″ inseams in several styles including the only skinnies that I really liked as I searched for options.
  3. Avenue – I know I already picked a pair from this seller, but they truly do have a great selection: 40 petite jean styles in a variety of washes and fits.

Would you consider doing a similar post with lower rise pants? My problem finding jeans (and pants in general) is that my torso is really petite, and even normal rises come up almost to my bra. Unfortunately, most of the more affordable brands/stores seem to equate “petite” with “ankle length,” which doesn’t help me as I’ve got average length legs. Currently, the only brand of pants that fits me is American Eagle. I feel a bit silly buying those since I’m pushing 30 and none of their styles are appropriate for my casual workplace. Help?

Hopefully you don’t mind my addition here… But my employer recently changed our dress code from super fun business casual to jeans and a company polo, so I’ve been on a quest for awesome plus size jeans. My favorite jeans hail from Lane Bryant of all places. If you can catch a sale there, they are so worth it. I live in NE Ohio and can often find LB jeans at Gabriel Brothers for $7.99-$9.99, just make sure you check for holes and that the buttons and zippers function well. Old Navy jeans are hit and miss. If you scour clearance racks at ON stores, you’ll find their jeans half off because someone returned them to the store and they’re online only merchandise. Sometimes they’re awesome, make sure you read the reviews before you buy them though. Maurices also has delightful plus size jeans in various price ranges. Hopefully these suggestions help! Also, Sal, I’m in love with those Style&Co jeans! I’d never looked there before! Thanks for posting these awesome sales!

A sale pick request: Warm *tights* (vs footless leggings) that don’t cause segmented worm syndrome. It’s the first really cold day of the year where I live, and I’m feeling dissatisfied with the pinchy waistband of my otherwise lovely merino tights. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Oof, I must be *really* long-waisted, because I’m 5’3″ but my inseam is only 25″-26″. I get so tired of bringing every.pair.of.jeans to the tailor for hemming.

  • As a plus size girl, I have to put a plug in for Simply Be’s jeans, particularly the Wow Cord Bootcut Pants (http://www.simplybe.com/pants/wow-cord-bootcut-pants-length-31in/invt/mb147rv/) that come in 28, 31, and 34 inch inseams. Super soft, cute pockets, and cheap at $40 a pair! Plus, with the hidden elastic at the back of the waistline, they are the only jeans I’ve found that actually manage to fit my hips and my waist. (Can you tell they’re my new fav?)

Thank you for chiming in with suggestions, friends! I’m so grateful. I struggled with this one, and can see why Nicole requested it! Not a lot of easy-to-find options out there.

  • Laura

Is 28″ genuinely short-legged? I’m 5′ and have a 22″ inseam, so I wonder if the jeans industry is just rather out of touch with things people can wear.

I am a huge fan of Not Your Daughter’s Jeans, despite the fact that I am 28 and a daughter and not a mom. They carry plus petites that don’t have the elastic waist, which I hate and despite more than words can express. They’re also made in the USA, which is so rare to find these days!

  • These suggestions are great- I love the Style & Co. jeans you have pictured – great options…
It is tough to find a great pair… but thanks Sal~ I appreciate your info!
