Insomniac Sale Picks: Colorful Plus-sized Pants

*In this new late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Jayme requested a few picks for colorful plus-sized pants, so here we go:

Not Your Daughters Jeans Sheri Skinny in Elderberry – was $120, now $83.99

So. Colorful denim is very trendy right now. And what I found in doing this particular search is that most colorful plus-sized pants are denim. Or sweats. So I stuck with denim assuming that it would be more useful, especially since some of these pairs could pass for non-jeans if styled with dressy tops. These dark purple skinnies have a 30″ inseam, a 12″ front rise, and are available in US sizes 14-26.

Roamans Three-Piece Duster Pant Suit – was $119, now $65.99

Right. It’s a suit set, not pants. But INCLUDES pants, and they’re non-denim, non-skinnies! This set is available in the bright red shown above as well as a very on-trend emerald green. I can’t say I’d recommend wearing all three pieces together, but break apart the set and you could get some real mileage out of it. The duster could make a great spring coat. Includes a sleeveless shell and 44″ long duster jacket. The pants have a 29″ inseam, and this set is available in sizes 14 to 34. All pieces are machine washable.

Torrid Denim Dark Teal Skinny Jeans – was $48.50, now buy one get one 50% off

Torrid is currently running this special on many of their jeans, including this gorgeous teal pair and the same style in a dark pinky-red. Both colors are fantastic picks because they’re bold enough to add some pizzaz to an outfit, but not so bright that they’ll have limited application. These jeans have a 32″ inseam and are available in sizes 12, 22, 24, and 26 in teal, 22, 24, and 26 in blackberry.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for colorful plus-sized pants:

  1. Avenue – These red stretch canvas pants are a particular favorite!
  2. Macy’s – A few pairs of non-denim pants in fun colors including these rich velvet straightlegs.
  3. Eloquii – If the Torrid skinny jean colors don’t send you, check out Eloqui’s classic and curvy fit skinnies. Bright red and bold blue available in both.

Clicked on the Macy’s link, and voila, the velveteen straightlegs are on sale! Sally worked her midnight magic. 🙂

I would just like to say it makes me sad that size 12 is considered plus sized.

Awesome! Thanks much for the ideas. I will say I tried the non-sale Avenue red pants and found them to fit disappointingly weird — like a tapered leg instead of a wide or a skinny.

Torrid colored jeans I totally missed tho. Score!

  • Thank you so very much for posting “plus size” options, even though I hate the categorization of women into “regular” or “plus” categories. The fact is that we’re at that stage with the fashion industry right now and so I’ve got to shop within those parameters. Thanks!

Hey, FWIW those NYDJ colored skinny jeans may run smaller than their other styles so if someone else is catching up here and getting excited I would take care to order a plausible size spread and return the dud pair or pairs, just in case. I’m a pretty reliable 14W in NYDJ jeans and they’re my go-tos for both looks and comfort, but those jeans … maybe I just can’t handle how very skinny and grabby they are on my super-pear lower half, I don’t know, but oof and yikes.

Sal, this is a perennial ongoing quest for me, so if you happen to come across another colored (or PATTERNED) plus (or comfort grown-up misses) pair of pants, most especially a straightleg rather than skinny one, please consider a revisit post. /long shot
