Insomniac Sale Picks: Stylish Tall Pants

*In this new late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Jamie requested a few picks for stylish non-jean pants with a 34″ or longer inseam, so here we go:

Banana Republic Logan Fit Wideleg Ministripe Suit Pant– was $110, now $68
PLUS use code BRSAVE30 for an additional 30% off online

Love the subtle pattern on these widelegs! Just enough to add interest, but not enough to distract. My guess is that these are unlined since lining isn’t specified, but they’ve got a 36″ inseam and with that 30% off code they’re only $47.60. These sit below the natural waist – though certainly not low-rise – and have a straight fit from the waist down.

Eddie Bauer Blakely Fit Cotton Pant – was $69.95, now $49.99

This style has a higher rise and is designed for a curvy figure with a smaller waist than hip size. Top-entry pockets are an unobtrusive and flattering option, as is the classic straight-leg design. This dusty olive green is a great option, but these pants are also available in black, tan, and gray. 35″ inseam on these!

J.Crew Stretch Vintage Trouser Cord – was $89.50, now $59.99

This is definitely the most casual of tonight’s picks, but with a modern trouser fit they could definitely work in dressed-down work ensembles. In addition to classic black, this lovely gray, and navy, these cords come in a pine-y green, rich brown, and bright blue. This is a low-rise pant with a 36″ inseam. J.Crew has several other gorgeous tall options for slacks, all with 36″ inseams.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for great pants with a 34″ or longer inseam:

  1. New York & Company – On the shorter end of tall, but with 47 pant styles featuring a 34.5″ inseam, definitely worth a mention.
  2. Long Tall Sally – Not just linking because this shop is a namesake! Inseams up to 38″ in a wide variety of basic styles, and waist sizes from US 4 to 24.
  3. Anthropologie – As you likely know, this retailer is on the spendy side, but stocks many darling pant styles in 36″ and 37″ inseams.

The logan pant from Banana Republic are fully lined, I just purchased two pair and love them.

Hah! Awesome – thanks for letting us know, Sara.

Victoria’s Secret also carries tall pants. Many of them go up to 36″ inseams. (And some appear to be on sale currently.) All the pants and jeans I’ve bought in recent years have been from VS. I like that the sizing is consistent.

I recently saw a post on Fashion for Nerds where she was wearing black pointe legging pants. I LOVED them but of course their inseams were only like 33″, and I need 35″ for skinny pants. So sad! I’ve tried so hard to find them but to no avail!

Still, I am really grateful I grew up in the age of online shopping. I don’t know how I’d find stylish size 11 shoes and 35″ inseam pants otherwise. . .

Oh, here’s something I need help with: Skinny jeans for petites. Most skinnies I try are too long, and hemming them wouldn’t help because then the “snugness” proportions are off in the calves. Jeggings sound great as a substitute but then reveal every lump and bump (ahem, cameltoe…I’m no fan of the word but there you have it), so unless I’m missing something important about them, I’d love some real jeans, with a skinny shape, and for petites. Any ideas?

Any trousers or jeans for the short-legged. I have a 22″ inseam, & pants aren’t sold by lengths anywhere I’ve seen.

  • Thank you for the tips! I always forget about J. Crew and Eddie Bauer. Many of my work pants are from BR. I love their Martin Skinny style! I have work pants from NY&Co, too. I agree with Anonymous that Victoria’s Secret also has a rockin’ selection of tall pants.

I’ve had good luck finding work pants at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack–Halogen and Lafayette 148 sometimes run long.
