Insomniac Sale Picks: Longer-hemmed, Sleeved Dresses

*In this new late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I’ll get the ball rolling myself, but would LOVE suggestions. Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Kathleen requested a few picks for knee-length or longer, sleeved, office-appropriate dresses, so here we go:

Donna Morgan Belted Stretch Jersey Dress – was $138, now $68.90

Some folks feel that jersey is too casual for work, but this dress is reviewed as being crafted from a nice, heavy material. Plus this full-skirted option has loads of layering possibilities that will make it versatile and office-friendly. If the neckline feels too low, add a scarf or statement necklace. Swap out the removable belt for one of your own. Add patterned tights and tall boots. Throw on a cropped cardigan or wooly wrap. The options are endless! (Runs large.)

J.Crew Clea Dress – was $198, use code GIFTS to reduce price to $148.50

J.Crew does tend to cut their skirts a bit short, but this dress is described as being knee-length and looks to be relatively modest in length. This classic, retro-influenced frock is crafted from a quality wool flannel/nylon blend and is fully lined. I adore this evergreen color, but it also comes in classic black. Be sure to use that GIFTS code for anything you buy – up to 30% off right now!

Jones New York Collection 3/4 Sleeve Dress – was $129, now $90.99

If you’re a fan of the pencil skirt silhouette, this pared-down dress is a great option. I’ve always had to hem my JNY dresses, so although this one is described as “knee length,” I wouldn’t be surprised if it were longer on many frames. This is another frock that makes a great canvas for accessories and layers, so it’s ideal for fall and winter wear.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for great longer-hemmed, sleeved dresses:

  1. Boden – Boden offers many sleeved options, most of which are ADORABLE. I may have a love-hate relationship with this British vendor, but they definitely deliver in the modesty department.
  2. IGIGI – Dozens of stylish plus-sized frocks, all of them sleeved! (Giving away a $50 gift card to IGIGI this week, too.)
  3. Asos – This retailer stocks many scandalously short dresses, but a quick search for “midi” will yield an amazing array of more modest options at great prices and in loads of colors and styles.

Thanks for sharing your awesome shopping skills! I am currently hunting for man-tailored vests, sleeveless sheath dresses that I can layer under, and maybe one of those curved-hem boleros that I always admire on you.
