Insomniac Sale Picks: Kitten Heels

*In this new late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

MM requested a few picks for kitten heels, so here we go:

Softspots Pallas – was $84.95, now $64.99

MM said, “With two small kids, regular heels aren’t practical all day and I’m sick to death of my ballet flats!” My own experiences with traditional, slim kitten heels has been that they’re harder to walk in than higher heels. So I’ve picked this pair with a chunky 2.5″ heel and small platform as a possible alternative. Only select colors are on sale, but it comes in seven classic shades including navy, burgundy, and brown croc print. I’ve long since consigned my only pair of Softspots since they didn’t suit my style, but dang, they were comfy.

Seychelles Accent – was $90, now $64.99

Many kitten heels feature a pointed toe, which can be flattering but a bit pinchy. These Seychelles have a less exaggerated point than many, and are available in this darling mustard as well as metallic cobalt, gold, and black. My Seychelles are remarkably well made for their price points, so I believe these will be a good value.

Sofft Marin – was $99.95, now $65.99

My understanding is that true kitten heels are 1.75″ or shorter, but I found very few pairs with heels that height. These guys are 2″ and with that teensy platform might squeak into the correct range! Sofft shoes are renowned for both comfort and quality, and I totally dig the subtle copper sheen and chain detailing on this pair. Also available in burgundy and black.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for fabulous kitten heels:

  1. Barefoot Tess – Great kitten heel offerings for shoe sizes US 10 to 15.
  2. Amazon – As always, an AMAZING source for shoe bargains. Watch prices after the New Year, too – Amazon typically launches big discounts after major holidays.
  3. Nordstromicon – With 73 pairs of kitten heels available online and the possibility of more options in brick-and-mortar stores, this shoe standby is always a good bet.

  • For those of funkier tastes. Many of Fly London’s shoes are within the 1-2.5 inch range and have rubber bottoms for good traction. My fav pick being the Vew pump. Many different styles on sale on Amazon.

    Just be aware their sizing conversions can be a little inconsistent. A 36 = 6, 37= 6.5, 38 = ~7.5, etc.

I picked up a pair of the Softspots Pallas a few weeks ago. They are great and exactly what I wanted.

    Thanks Sal!!!

I have a pair of Soffft kitten heels — not those exact ones (mine are patent leather and have different embellishment stuff), but pretty darn close. They are lovely. I was shocked at how fast I was able to break them in.

I own a pair of “true” kitten heels (slight heel, very slim, pointed although not pointy toe) and a pair of 3″+ wedges. I wore both to work this summer, where I don’t do that much walking but do have to navigate stairs, and the wedges were infinitely more comfortable. JMHO.

  • All the Fidjis I’ve been wearing lately have chunky 1″ heels, are extremely stable to walk in, and they are beautiful shoes, though not in the “traditional ladylike pump” mode. If you like something a little funky and edgy and unisexy, there are a lot of pairs on sale at Zappos right now.
