Insomniac Sale Picks: Plus-sized Pencil Skirts

*In this new late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I’ll get the ball rolling myself, but would LOVE suggestions. Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Plus-sized pencil skirts? What would you like to see featured?*

Shaye took me up on one of my example requests, so here we go:

Plus-sized Pencil Skirts

MICHAEL Michael Kors leopard print – was $89.50, now $49.99
Size 16 available here for  $70.99

I know leopard printed is considered by some (including my dear mom!) to be a bit racy, but I think of it as a classic print and a fabulous neutral alternative to black, brown, and gray. It works beautifully with nearly any bright color, including pink, purple, orange, teal, even cobalt. This print is nice and dark, making it subtle enough to be appropriate to most offices, I’d imagine. Plus those zippers! So cute.

INC International Concepts pull-on in black, was $79.50, now $49.99

I know black may seem a bit dull, but I wanted to offer a classic, basic option. I own several INC garments, including my standby black ponte pants, and they have held up beautifully to frequent wear and washing. This pencil skirt is pull-on, it’s ponte, and it has absolutely no zippers, buttons, or hardware so it’s bound to be comfy. (Customer reviews note there’s no slit in back, FYI.)

DKNYC textured tweed, was $99, now $57.99

This is definitely the shortest option of the three, but that dark tweedy texture is sophisticated and lovely. If you’re worried about modesty, wearing it with black tights, as shown here, should help it seem more conservative. And if not, show off those gorgeous gams!

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for great plus-sized pencil skirts:

  1. Macys – Well, since all three of tonight’s picks hail from this department store, I’ve gotta recommend them. There were tons more options, but many only available in a size or two.
  2. Avenue/One Stop Plus – Combined, these two outlets offer up to size 44.
  3. Eloquii – This new line from The Limited has been recommended to me by at least one reader. The styles are gorgeous and affordable, but I’ve been warned that they work best for plus-sized women who are relatively tall.

ALSO if you’re a size 24, this darling printed skirt is on sale for $4.99, down from $69. Someone, please snap it up!

  • The DKNYC textured tweed is beautiful! That’s my style.

  • I have that first Michael Kors skirt! It is amazing and very flattering. I am also in LOVE with animal print, and I agree: it’s a neutral to me 🙂

    I love this new feature!

Ha, thank you! I’m seriously tempted by the black ponte skirt…my current black pencil skirt doesn’t fit well and isn’t very comfortable, so it doesn’t get much wear.

  • I recently had great luck with this pleat-front pencil skirt from Sejour at Nordstrom: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/sejour-front-pleat-skirt-plus/3170960?origin=category&resultback=1972 — the photo isn’t very good, it makes the pleats look really, um, standoutish? But they’re not, and it’s super-comfy.

  • I own the MICHAEL Michael Kors skirt but in python and it’s really nice IRL! Only bad thing is those zippers are fake pockets! They unzip but there’s no pocket 🙁

Love that ponte pencil skirt. You and the ladies of Academichic have gotten me VERY intrigued by ponte. . .

  • I’m really late to this particular party, but i’ve really come to LOVE talbots pencil skirts. they offer plus size AND plus size petite, and i LOVE their lengths.
