Insomniac Sale Picks: Colorful Gloves

*In this new late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I’ll get the ball rolling myself, but would LOVE suggestions. Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

KL asked to see some options for brightly colored leather gloves, so here we go:

Luxury Lane Cashmere Lined Leather Gloves with Buttons – was $89, now $39.99

Classic red is always a great bet, since it’s just about as neutral as a bright color can be. Cashmere lining is a fabulous luxury touch, and how adorable are those little side buttons?

Cashmere Lined Leather Gloves – was $46, now $39.99

These are pretty basic, but still a good value and offered in some unusual colors, including that lovely lavender and bold cobalt.

Grandoe Cosmopolitan Leather Gloves with Cashmere Lining – was $85, now $72.95

Not exactly the bargain of the century, these, but they come in pink, kelly green, red, eggplant, orange, and magenta as well as basic black. Plus: BOW! And another cashmere-lined option.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for great colorful leather gloves:

  1. Target – I cannot for the life of me generate a link that encompasses all of their offerings, but there are purple, rose, mustard, blue, and red options at the very least. Just try searching for “purple gloves.” Or, better yet, go to an actual Target store.
  2. J.Crew – Ever-so not-on-sale, but their cashmere-lined leather gloves come in an array of gorgeous colors.
  3. And, of course, THRIFT STORES! I have many pairs of colorful gloves, and my navy, evergreen, pink, and red ones all hail from thrift stores. Check for wear on the leather, but don’t discount used gloves as an option. (thethriftshopper.com can help you locate stores near you.)

Hey, Sal! I’m enjoying this new series. I’d love to see a post on warm and toasty winter sweaters…for those of us who can’t wear any wool/cashmere/etc. (Trickier than it sounds!) Thanks–b.

Ooh, now you’ve got me coveting the bow gloves… which are a bit too pricey for a winter-only accessory, alas. I was inspired by J.Crew’s amazing color options, though of course they’re expensive (even with the new 25% promotion). Hmm, but those cobalt blue ones are worth contemplating.

I adore this new feature. I like the idea of these, though personally I’m not much of a glove-wearer. I spend so much time in the lab with my hands cased in nitrile gloves that I get quite enough of not having my hands free! But I love the look on others 🙂

Another suggestion: stylish umbrellas! the ten day forecast for PDX is showing pretty much all rain…gotta brighten it up somehow! 😀

Nordstrom has some lovely cashmere/wool-lined leather gloves on sale right now, in deep red, purple, peacock blue, and olive. They’re $68, but still less than J. Crew!

  • I love Target gloves! The stores have a real rainbow available – lots of variety. There might be some two-tone ones, as well. They’re a good price regularly and a bargain on sale, but don’t wait. They do sell out.

  • OMG, I love them all!!

Sally, may I request a post on how to care for leather items (other than shoes)? I just got a pair of gorgeous Portolano leather gloves, but I’m terrified to actually wear them because I know they will get ruined. I realize leather gloves aren’t the most practical here in the wintry Northeast, but I’d like to keep them looking good as long as possible.

  • Sal, thanks for including a few vegan options!

  • I posted a pair of gloves once and every since then I’ve gotten traffic from a German glove-fetish site. Don’t worry, they’re harmless!
