Rachel has some serious questions about the concept of erotic capital.

Still hesitant to try maxi dresses? Let Patty show you how fun, flattering, and versatile a floor-sweeping dress can be.

In the September issue of W Magazine, photographer Steven Meisel shot several top fashion models – first au naturel, then done up to the nines in makeup and designer duds.  (Not safe for work, via Shopping’s My Cardio)

A pink blouse and red skinnies make for a bold pairing, but Gracey makes it look effortless and chic.

Sometimes the body image battle can seem endless and overwhelming, but here are 30 easy things you can do every day to boost your body image.

If you think I go bold with color, check out Futurelint: She did a stoplight’s worth of pencil skirts just this week!

Adele is gorgeous, no question about it. But why the hell is she always cropped from the collarbone up in magazine photos? Here’s why.

Fun and affordable 70s-inspired pieces, all for $20 or less.

I love my body because it has been the vehicle of my expression- it is the thing that allows me to hug warmly, play with my boy,  express joy, give love, feel the difficulty of the run – both literally and metaphorically - and do it anyway.”

After opening up a discussion about sizing frustration, DeeDee has some suggestions for how to deal with that frustration and help make hard-to-find sizes easier to locate.

Dianne Sylvan’s ten rules for fat girls is inspiring. Seriously. (Via Manolo for the Big Girl)

“You can recite studies about signifiers of fertility or the golden mean or the waist-hip ratio, but in the end it’s all bullshit, all theories meant to retroactively justify what is essentially a cultural concept. Physical ‘perfection’ is not a law of physics; it does not hold true throughout space and time.  It’s merely an illusion that we have all agreed to acknowledge as fact.” (Cheers, Maven.)

Kasmira’s take on Lucky mag’s recent recommendation for a black, cobalt, and kelly outfit is just marvelous.

Planning a body-positive wedding is a tougher charge than you might think.

“… a lot of women tend to apologize for how happy beauty makes them. ‘I know it’s just a lip gloss, but I love it,’ we’ll admit somewhat sheepishly. Somehow, we’ve gotten the idea that it’s shallow to get too excited about beauty.” (Via The Beheld)

Patti shares her personal rules for wearing vintage when you’re “a bit vintage” yourself.

Indie Fixx wonders: What will be the next fashion-y animal trend? (I vote wombat.)

In an installation that serves as an extension of their book, Trappings, Two Girls Working ask, “What do you wear that makes you feel powerful?” (Cheers, Karen!)

A flared gray dress and ropes of pearls make for a classy, classic, work-appropriate ensemble.

Coming up in October: Eco-fashion Week. Anyone wanna to fly me to Vancouver? Anyone?

And from the Department of Random: If I took dance classes every day for the next 15 years, I would still suck compared to the little man who shows up at 0:52. Those MOVES! (Aloe does OK for himself, too, I guess.)

I gotta go with giraffe for the next big trend–giraffes are the bomb!

I’ve been trying to take into myself the concept of that Daily Glow article and stop apologizing for liking things. I’m really doing my best to avoid the “I know it’s ____, BUT I like it” because what is that doing for anybody? I like it, I don’t need to acknowledge that other people might not. I really want not to be afraid of expressing my preferences!

I can’t listen to it now, but if the music is as killer as the dancing on that video, consider me a fan. So slick!

I’m a Vancouverite that loves reading your blog. Thanks for the shoutout! There’s a lot of little fashion events here in the fall. I think most of it is only sold locally though. I like going to the fashion/craftshow marketplaces like the One of a Kind show.

I’m not planning a wedding anytime soon, but I love Medical Marizan’s article. I had to snag this lovely quote and put it up on my inspiration/happy cork board because I think it applies so well to all aspects of dealing with people:

“people will love you as best they can in whatever way comes natural to THEM. Give them some space not to love you “in the way you prefer to be loved.” Open your heart.”
