Casual Outfit: Week of August 21

Striped tee, thrifted – similar (long sleeves)
Skirt, Anthropologie Field Skirt (no longer available at Anthro) – a few on eBay
Belt, Tom Thomas Leather
Flats, John Fleuvog Amina (no longer available) – a pair on eBay
Hoops, The Mexican Shopsimilar

Sunday was spent with the in-laws so I stepped up my game a little. Still needed to do flats – I really did a number on my right quad – but opted for these slightly dressier Fluevogs.

Oh, Paul Smith! I’m based in Nottingham and folk that have worked for him – his empire started here – have nothing but wonderful things to say about him. He’s regarded as a genuinely lovely man and a fabulous employer – the sort that rewards loyalty with loyalty. My boss has a story about a friend of hers who worked for him years ago encountering him by chance years later and finding herself and her family not just remembered but invited out to dinner for old time’s sake.

There’s an independent cinema here whose seats are decked out in his signature stripes. It’s rather wonderful.

Two totally fabulous outfits. I adore the scarf, I adore the studded flats, and the brown knotted belt with the black and white stripes is genius. Just awesome.

PS–hope that quad feels better soon!

  • Very very nice looks, Sal. I love your new scarf/sarong, and the way you fashioned it.

I am cuh-rayzy about those Fluevog flats! I can’t afford Fluevog on my early-20s salary, but I can eyeball ’em on your feet.

  • The french look becomes you, Sally! I love the striped shirt with the short and sassy full skirt, very much! Let’s eat a croissant together and drink some vino.

Sal – just want to say, your haircut looks great! Definitely a keeper there.

I really love that second look!!! You look so great, it seems simple and yet terrific! And I hardly notice you are wearing flats, it all works so well together!

  • Really nice outfits, love the soft blowy dress with the denim and the scarf is to die for. Beautiful ensembles ! BTW, I so Did get my hair cut like yours…and love it !

    Best,
    Elise

I’m a sucker for anything with stripes, so the second outfit gets some major kudos. I loved the detail of the twisted belt. The first one is a really nice casual dressy outfit. You could wear that up or down for a night out or an office visit. 🙂

  • Years ago I had a whole collection of black and white striped tops…went to the laundry room…put them in the washer…came back and they were gone! I never saw them again.

  • Love both outfits but the first is a particular favorite; wonderful use of color.

My husband and I are both big fans of Paul Smith. My favorite though perhaps juvenile PJs (in fact my only PJs) are red flannel covered with lovely PS monkeys. They make me insanely happy.

Oh, I love the one with the striped tee!

I am a fan of stripes – love the new scarf and the 2nd look.
