If you’re not a sports fan – and I’m not – it’s a challenge to wear this shade of yellow with anything in the purple/red family in Minnesota and avoid commentary. Purple and yellow means Vikings, maroon and gold means Gophers. Honestly, I just like these shades together! And my badger tattoo does NOT represent an alliance with Madison’s Bucky, I swear.
This dress is cotton, but wrinkles as enthusiastically as linen. I want to be mad at it for being a difficult jerk of a dress, but I just can’t help but love its pleats, neckline, and irresistibly cheerful yellow color. All is forgiven, stubbornly wrinkly voile dress.

I love those colours together! Just yesterday I thrifted a long sweater in that exact yellow. When I got home I tried it on with a scarf in that purple. What a coincidence! I thought they looked gorgeous together! I can’t wait until the fall to wear them with leggings and tall brown boots.
Still, I can’t help but give a tiny “go gophs!” cheer when I see those colors– I’ll always, always associate them with my Alma mater!
I would have never put this combination together, but you have proven that it works and it works beautifully
Marisa
I feel the same way about blue and orange (Bronco’s) and purple and black (Rockies). I hate sports, but all my family are sport fanatics. I personally love the yellow and purple combo. Glad you forgave the dress. It’s too cute to stay mad at!
I like that combination of colors, but as a Minnesotan it does make me think of football!
That yellow dress is just darling. The cheery yellow is so great! I wouldn’t equate it with sports, but I don’t live in an area where those are common colors. I think the cardigan looks adorable with the dress.
I am a *huge* sports fan, but I never heard of Bucky the badger — till today. I love these colors together, and I love the cropped-cardi-over-dress.
I love so much about this outfit. The color combo is fabulous. The necklines look so pretty together and I adore the short little cardigan. OK, the shoes, too.
Yep, everything about it looks great.
These colors are absolute Heaven! Love it. Sally, thank you for being such an style inspiration, I have been following your blog for a few months now and love how you always look so put together!
We just got back from Africa where we met a honey badger. These guys will take on a lion, and other predators are afraid of them despite their small size. What a great totem!
I can’t imagine being mad at such a happy yellow dress
I love that dress and adding the cardigan is spectacular. The pleating is very femenine and the shape looks great on you. Wonderful combination!
Ha, before I even saw your text I thought for sure you had some kind of work/university event to go to. That is definitely a great dress though.
You can wear that color combo in South Louisiana with a green accessory and it means, “It’s time for Mardi Gras? Let’s start drinking!”
Oh wow! That dress is to-die-for. And you wear it so well (legs for miles ma’am!)
I love the colours together, too! Looks great Sally! xxx
It’s funny, I love those colors together, but for years I avoided the combination because purple and gold were the school colors of our rival high school. There was so much bad blood between the two schools, it took me 20 years or so to be able to wear purple and yellow together and not feel like a traitor.
You look awesome. What a cool dress! I love it!
Unless a team goes with “black and denim” as its colors, I’m safe from any fan confusion.
Cute CUTE!!! I love PURPLE & Yellow together!!!
BTW, My MIL gave me some jewelry she won from some contests because they are the fluer de lis design. In MS you can’t wear those designs lest you get haggled for being an LSU Saints fan..
The jewelry was awesome. WINNING!
soo love this look!
Sally, I like your outfit. Is the fabric cotton? Looks very comfy as well!
