Recommended Reading: Of Another Fashion

Minh-Ha T. Pham is one of the powerhouse writers behind Threadbared, a blog that consistently blows my mind with its smart, savvy, thought-provoking perspectives on how race, culture, gender, and privilege figure into fashion. But her latest endeavor, Of Another Fashion, although equally intellectual strikes me as more accessible and emotional.

I’ve given this Tumblr blog a shout-out in a recent Friday link roundup, but feel it deserves further highlighting. Of Another Fashion is a collection of photos and anecdotes, and Minh-Ha describes it as “an alternative archive of the not-quite-hidden but too often ignored fashion histories of U.S. women of color.” Click over to see beauty pageant contestants, internment camp residents, product advertisements, and family snapshots.

Take a peek at Of Another Fashion to see an amazing and ongoing tribute to stylish women of color through the ages. And if you’ve got an item or image to share, drop Minh-Ha a note!
