Daily Outfit: 1/5/11

Already Pretty Daily Outfit 1/5/11 featuring pink patent pumpsLemon yellow blazer, thrifted – similar
Navy tee, thrifted – similar
Plaid silk circle skirt, thrifted – similar plaid full skirts
Navy ribbed tights, Banana Republic – similar (also from BR), similar color
Pink pumps, Nine West (no longer available) – similar
Silver necklace, Fossil (no longer available) – budget similar, more similar but spendy

As I mentioned over on Facebook, this outfit prompted a slew of “so springy!” comments. I have loads and loads of black and gray in my cold weather wardrobe, and make a real effort to incorporate bright, bold colors during the winter, including those that many relegate to spring and summer wear only. That’s right, I’m a rebel and I’ll never ever be any goooood.

This blazer and skirt were both thrifted in Chicago, but are by different brands and bought from different thrift stores. The yellow in the blazer matches the yellow in the skirt so perfectly, I actually gasped. Color kismet!

The darkest color in the skirt is navy, not black, and I swear my tee and tights are navy. I SWEAR TO YOU that even though everything navy I own photographs as black, the items I say are navy really are. Cross my heart.

I have no problems with your bright yellow jacket, in fact I love it with this skirt. But the part that strikes me the most about this outfit is your pink heels. I would not think of getting or wearing pink heels, but every time I see you rock these, I want them.

  • Love this outfit more than I can say! Makes me wish I would have bought the long plaid skirt I was looking at, drooling over, a few days ago!

  • Color kismet, indeed! I so covet that skirt. It is just lovely!

  • That skirt is so pretty! I love the colors! I’m with you on the colors in winter thing, and I don’t think this outfit screams spring… bare legs and a pink or white top instead of navy and that’s springy, but I still think of this as a wintery outfit (even if it involves a pastel!)

  • Bubu

Yellow is my favourite colour but I can only enjoy it on my walls, never on my person. You, however, look beautiful in this yellow jacket. And how nice to see yellow in the thick of winter. Bravo!

  • That skirt is GORGEOUS! I love its fullness and texture, but that plaid is just awesome. Such a refreshing color palette, too. I love it, Sal!

  • Yay for bringing a bit of bright spring colour into winter. What a breath of fresh air as we all wait for Spring with baited breath.

  • Oh my…this is one of my very favorite outfits I’ve seen you wear. The yellow is so bright and fresh — perfect for a dreary winter’s day! And how wonderful that so many components in this lovely outfit were thrifted!
