I finally made it over to my P.O. box this weekend, and found that lovely reader Louise had mailed me this AMAZING cashmere scarf. It’s about 97 miles long, and just as soft and warm as can be. She’d seen this post, saw the scarf languishing in her closet, and popped it into an envelope. How awesome is that? Beyond-words-awesome, I say. Thanks again, Louise!

This little cropped jacket actually has an enormous Peter Pan collar, which I love but which would’ve clashed with the overall sleek-modernity of this outfit. So I used the big scarfy knot obscure it.

Oh, unseen layers here? A floor-length black silk skirt and silk longjohns. And underwear, but that hardly counts.

Love, love, love the maxi dress look on you – it’s so elegant. And i agree about the peter pan collar. As much as I like them, they’re far from modern.

Silk longjohns- so interesting. I don’t have anything that interesting to wear underneath my winter wear.
Love the cropped jacket.

This is so funny, but I have a black and brown outfit on today also! It is one of my favorite combos and I pictured it on my site as well! You look so chic in this!

Sal – what colour are the polka dots on your jacket?

I love this line on you – so sleek and elegant and uncluttered. Quite minimalist, actually! And I also love the cuff.

They’re cream-colored! Kinda hard to tell, I know. Oh, how I miss outdoor outfit shots …

What a lovely gift! Great outfit, I still haven’t found a maxi skirt that is right for me – I would love one like this. And the cropped jacket is great with it.

I love the idea of a maxi dress but it makes me look about 3 feet tall!

I have the same problem!

I really like your maxi dress! I think you look great in it and this styling is like an easy chic. I especially want the cuff you’re wearing. Thanks for sharing your love of silk long johns, too.

Beautiful and it looks cozy. Honestly, couldn’t you wear this outfit every day for the rest of the winter? (no) I surely could.

I’m so thrilled that you like the scarf enough to use it in a featured outfit! I’m sure you’ll get more warm snugglies out of it in Minnesota that I would here in Florida.

And how adorable is that cropped jacket?

A cashmere scarf a mile long sounds like the best thing ever! I love the long skirt with the cropped jacket and cropped sleeves!

Love the look, and especially love the scarf (I live in scarves most of the year!). I don’t know if I could manage 3/4 length sleeves in January, though… my arms get cold! :)

I love the look! And what a lovely scarf you got! it is a great way to change the look of the outfit. (and I use longjohns too, or should we say, leggings – more fashionable, under my long black skirt too :)
