Lovely Links: 11/24/10

Like many Americans, I’ll be taking a break from Internetting for the Thanksgiving holiday, so here are a smallish group of links for this week! (I have some goodies from the archive slated for tomorrow and Friday … I’d never leave you lovelies high and dry.)

Unsurprisingly, Medicinal Marzipan’s guide to loving your body through the holidays is packed with compassionate wisdom.

Check out this fantastically creative way to wear a necklace and scarf together.

My inner organizatrix is giddy with glee at these clever, cheap ways to keep your jewelry and accessories in order.

Just found out that fellow style blogger and genuinely lovely human being Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere has been named Beso.com’s style director! Needless to say, I’m thrilled for her.

Organic dry skin remedies for the cold days ahead.

How much do I love these Arcade Fire-inspired ensembles? Quite a lot, thank you.

1950s jewelry designer Art Smith made some truly stunning pieces. “And, although being a gay, black, male jewelry designer in the 50s provided several challenges, Smith succeeded in getting his work featured in Vogue, Harpers, and the New Yorker, in addition to having it sold at Bloomingdales.”

I believe that shapewear has its uses, but know that many body image advocates loathe the very concept. Do you think shapewear is harmful, harmless, or somewhere in between?

Esme wears an elaborate feathered collar-piece, and makes it look retro-chic.

And from the Department of Random: Apparently, they’re making a new Buffy movie … without Joss. This strikes me as utter lunacy.

I saw the news about the Buffy movie, and I have to say that I'm pretty surprised that Joss isn't going to be more actively involved. Even so, I'm sure that I'll watch it.

    Happy Thanksgiving, Sal!

Like others have said around the internet – Buffy continued with Joss in the comics. No reason to re-do something still going on.

But as a life long Buffy fan, I'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD and rent it.

    Thanks for the links.

Yesterday my friend and I had a 10 minute rant on Facebook of the lunacy of missing Joss off a Buffy project and what he must have done in a former life to deserve such bad treatment (Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse, now this with Buffy).

It's not on. I, for one, will be boycotting. Sorry, seem to have ranted a bit there. But I feel very strongly.

  • A-Dubs

That IS utter lunacy. Like Ray, however, I'm totally going to see it.

Here is my trick for organizing earrings: use an old window screen.

Someone pointed out to me today that this new movie has the rights to the original 1992 movie, not the television show. That means no Xander, no Willow, no Spike.

Which somehow makes it both less awful and less interesting at the same time.

Buffy without Joss? That IS utter lunacy!

Wait – we don't want to look like Marty McFly? But he's a dreamboat! 🙂

Shapewear – I'm for it, as long as it's not part of some continued and deep-seated self-loathing. I am happy with my body but I have a few Yummie Tummie camisoles and a Miraclesuit suck-your-gut-in contraption. Because even though I am pretty pleased with my figure, even I have to admit that my shiny cocktail dresses look better without a beer gut.
