Black dress, Athleta
Red stud belt, Walgreens, no longer available – similar
Black and gray pattern tights, Anthropologie, no longer available – similar
Boots, Born Tessa
Scarf, Desigual, no longer available – similar (Well, kinda. I’ve never seen a scarf quite like this, and can’t seem to find a decent facsimile.)
Wendy Brandes Swear Rings

We got a boatload of snow last weekend, as you can see. The snow was so wet and heavy that it downed several tree limbs, entire trees, and many power lines. Nuts!

Brown cashmere cardigan, Opitz – similar
Gray jersey dress, thrifted – similar
Brown sweater tights, Anthropologie, no longer available – similar
Necklace, thrifted – similar

Will you check out that unbelievable HAM in the corner behind me? Clearly, Rowan Cat needs some time in front of the lens, too. (That’s a leaf underneath the rug she’s mauling … at least, I think it is.)

Those tights are actually a bit on the breezy side, but so cute. They’ve got little flecks of color throughout, woven among the sweater-y fibers.

I love that last outfit! Super cute tights.

  • angie

All 3 are lovely and all have nice details. What's happening with the weather ,only a few days ago was warm

  • La Belette Rouge

When I lived in Chicago I always LOVED seeing a Cardinal out in the snow. Those red feathers always perked up my spirit when snow felt a bit drab. Love your little bits of red. I bet all the Cardinals noticed you, because as you know, birds of a feather flock together.;-)

  • eek

Wow, look at all your snow! And I thought 40-degree weather was cold!

You are rockin' the tights with boots and skirts looks here, but my favorite has to be the striped ones with the red cowboy boots đŸ™‚

  • La Historiadora de Moda

I especially love that last outfit! I'm sure at some point I will do some snow stomping in my Fluevog Cowgirls.

  • Emma at Daily Clothes Fix

That scarf is amazing. I can see why you snapped it up.

Don't miss my first ever giveaway

  • unmitigated me

Sal, Sal, Sal…thank goodness for those red boots. The gray and the brown, and the neutrals…they were keelink me.

  • Sal

unmitigated me: I KNOW! I can't help it. I feel like I've been sucked into a neutral black hole. Especially on the weekends. Eesh.

  • myedit

Really…. snow… At least you look great for the seasonal weather. Your boot collection is envious.

  • BiblioMOMia

That last outfit is so much fun! And, you have inspired me to pull out my new zebra tights for a party tonight. I'm channeling you for the evening…

  • Diana

Holy cow that's a lot of snow! We've still only had three days of boot weather in Florida so far – right now, it's in the 70s.

Those stripey sweater tights are gorgeous!

  • pretty

I am still so jealous that you can wear a different pair of boots a day! In my eyes, boots are the most beautiful style of shoes. xx

  • Pull Your Socks Up!

Wow I'm amazed at the heavy snowfall you're having already, but what is even more amazing is the snow princess in her eye-popping scarf, plus the red boots!

  • Megan Mae

Goodgravy that snow! It's 70F here!

Those red boots are like a wonderful beacon in the snow. I love all the different tights. You've got a great collection of them.

  • Veronica Darling…

The top outfit is my fave, blacks with red accessories! Love bright red in wintertime! We're heading for a massive week of hotness here in Melbourne, so it's weird to see your snow photos!

  • Ann V

I love these outfits! Especially the tights in the last one.

What's the secret to wearing tall boots that don't come all the way up to your knee? I have really long legs, and all the knee high boots I try on hit me about where these boots hit you, but they always look goofy on me and yours are cute. Is it the similar colored tights thing, or the style of the boot?

  • loveablequirks.

I am loving your scarf! If only I could find a multi-color one like that too đŸ™‚
your cat is sooo cute !

  • Sal

Ann V: Hmmm, can you be a little more specific than "goofy"? Do they look like galoshes? Make your calves look wide? Feel free to e-mail me at sally@alreadypretty.com if you want!

  • Terri

Outfit two would be my favorite, although a family member would have to leave me an inheritance before I would likely pop for such a sweater. Absolutely beautiful.

  • WendyB

Love the cat up to mischief in the background. Nice rings!

  • Izabela

I love the scarf in the first outfit! It stands out beautifully.

  • Misfits Vintage

Holy cow – snow! Heading into summer here in Australia and this is my favourite time of year.

I LOVE those stripy tights and red boots! And the scarf in the first pic and the yummy cashmere cardi… and I love your hair. You are so gorgeous Sal! Sarah xxx

  • Dorky Medievalist

I have to admit that, much as I love the standing-in-the-middle-of-the-road shots, I love the indoor shots more for the promise of kitty antics in the background. Who doesn't love a ham? Who is also a cat? (I am also a fan, obviously, of the Simon-getting-a-talking-to outdoor shots.)

I love the stripy tights pictured here. This really is the only way to do stripy tights, isn't it? With dark neutrals so they are the star? I love stripes and I love tights but my efforts to marry the two are met with confusion at best.

  • lyrebirdgully

Highdee highdee ho, how great do those stripy tights look with that #3 outfit! very nice with the outline of the black skirt.
You know, I have always avoided horizontal striped tights for fear of looking like this
    striped tights
, and I'm not sure if I'm game to try this
    Sartorialist

    – but this is the first striped tights look I've seen that I would actually wear!

PS. Speaking from subtropical Sydney, it's amazing to see snow on that by-now-familiar background. Were you really standing in the sleet for that first picture? thanks for suffering for your art! I really do prefer your outdoor shots, especially since the light gives a truer colour palette. But I am shocked that you are wearing earrings and rings (with no gloves) in those temperatures! I put my rings in my bag when I go out in winter, as I can't fit my various leather gloves (worn every single winter day) over them; and as for earrings, they make my earlobes freeze, so I stop wearing them for the season. And yet we don't even get frost in Sydney, let alone snow. I guess you are well and truly acclimatised…

  • Terri

Test–I've been having trouble with having my comments show up.

  • Sal

lyrebirdgully: Oh, I wear a coat and mittens and often a hat! Just dash outside for the outfit shots so we can take advantage of the natural light. Doesn't take long!

  • Between Laundry Days

Dang! It's so crazy that you guys are getting so much snow already. It's been so balmy in Chicago this year. I'm looking forward to heading north next week for the holiday, though.

And these outfits are all fantastic, but I'm a total sucker for that first one!

  • Birgit_Wo

oh, you already have snow!!!! *jealousIam*!!!!! btw: I really like your tights in the third picture, they're giving the whole outfit a little extra!

  • Jessi – Sconce

Beautiful boots in the top picture! Love the 3 buckles.

  • Kelly

I'm with everyone shocked at your snow! I'm in Ohio and right now it is 72*F outside. I know it's unseasonably warm here, but I was still unprepared to see snow in your pictures!

  • Audi

Eesh, I'm shivering just looking at your photos! You look fab though Sal; those stripey tights plus the red boots is a particularly winning combination.

  • Christy

ok this is totally unrelated to fashion…but does your cat haul in leaves too?? Mine won't stop. She carries in a leaf and lays it down, then carries in another one, and will do that as long as I let her. I have had to pick up 8-9 leaves some days. Little punk. =)

  • Sal

Christy: Hahaha. No, Husband Mike and I are responsible for all the leaf litter. But your cat sounds like a hoot! Maybe she's got a craft project going on in her lair somewhere. Leaves, shellac, glitter … you may never know.
