Sunday Shoes: Dansko Knee-high Boots

by Sally on April 4, 2010 · 9 comments

I purchased these three or four years ago to be my workhorse black boots, and they’ve gotten lots of wear … but not recently. I’m not terribly fond of that heel at this point, and wish it was a bit narrower. I tend to fall back on my Aldos and Diesels instead, but since these are Danskos they’re super comfy … so they do get worn when I have tons of walking to do.

If you look closely in the first photo, you’ll see some band-aids and moleskin on the inside of the boot. That’s because there were some petrified threads in there that both ruined my tights and mauled my calves until I covered them up. Annoying.

What a great idea to put rolled up magazines into your boots to keep their shape – now why didn't I ever think of that :) Thanks Sal

I've got the same Dansko boots, and I love them. I wore them pretty much constantly this winter. My only complaint was that the toe box seemed a bit narrow, but I'm planning on getting it stretched.

I have a pair of riding boots similar to these that rub wrong on my calf as well, but I never even thought of using moleskin. So smart!

P.S. I just found your blog from my friend Kendi. This may sound ridiculously cheesy, but thank you for writing about finding your own inner beauty. I'm just getting there myself– in my early thirties!

Ohh nifty. I've always been scared to wear my knee-high boots with tights. :)

Hey Sal, or any fellow readers, I finally found a pair of over the knee boots that I love that I cant try on and not order online, but it's nearing summer and I was wondering if there are any over the knee-boot looks that are spring/summer friendly. I'm in Ohio so the nights -are- a bit chilly still, but can I wear them with shorts or a skirt without looking like a hooker? Thanks <3

Kym: I think you can do it! I'd try them with tights or leggings, though, to mitigate the potential hooker overtones of a miniskirt or shorts with OTK boots. Do the leggings with a short tunic, shorts/tights with a loose or casual tee.

Thanks TONS Sal! I've just recently gotten into leggings so that'll work out great and let me play with them some more! <3
