Daily Outfit: 3/15/10

Pink bolero, eBay
Floral sheath dress, Liberty of London for Target
Magenta tights, Target
Orange pumps, Perlina Celebrity
Flower brooch, don’t remember

I don’t generally get too pumped about the Target/designer collaborations. The clothes LOOK cute, but they FEEL cheap. Construction and materials are often crappy, and I’m just not interested. But the Liberty collaboration is an exception. Liberty prints are just the kind of florals and patterns I gravitate toward naturally, and I suspected that since all the garments would be heavily printed, any design flaws would be less obvious.

Construction varied widely, but overall, these pieces were very well made. And I ended up stocking up. I will do my utmost not to Liberty you to death this week, but I couldn’t resist wearing this sheath dress today. It’s fully lined, sturdily constructed, and has so many of my favorite colors in it I could swoon. I’ll play with contrast some other time, today I just wanted to indulge in pinks and oranges!

Cute!!! From what I've seen the reviews for the LoL Target pieces have been mixed. Glad you found something you loved.

Great dress! I like the pinks and oranges together.

That dress looks made for you — love the colors and pattern. You do such a great job of matching your outer outfit items too.

I'm usually not a huge fan of Target designer collaborations, but I was sad I missed out on some of the Thakoon pieces.

I love the dress! I feel similarly to you about Target, but sometimes you can find such amazing stuff there. I adore those pumps.

That looks great on you, Sally!

I seriously considered the trench in YELLOW (surprise, surprise for me!) and black and gray. I quickly realized I have four spring jackets already. (You already know what I think of me in yellow.)

You know, pink and orange are the ultimate 60s color combo! I am so happy to see the colors worn again. And it's nice that the dress has a 60s vibe to the silhouette, too.

So cute! That outfit is like the fabric version of a kitten.

Pink and orange is an awesome combo. You look adorable!

This is so pretty!

Target is very hit or miss for me. Sometimes I go in and stock up…other times I can't find ANYTHING I like.

ARG! If I could shop I would go buy that dress right now. *sigh* I guess I'll live vicariously through you for a while.

You look fantastic! I'm loving this color combination! I am hoping to buy a dress or two from this new collection on Wednesday when I go shopping.

Target, you say? noo….. it cannot be! I love the florals in this dress and all the color. Amazing.

I just spied that dress at Target! I thought the flowers would swallow me up. You look fab!

That dress is kuh-yute on you! I agree with your review of the Liberty collection at Target–the dresses didn't work on me, but they were a great deal.

Absolutely gorgeous. Florals don't fit my style but i love them nonetheless.

Overall targets a hit or miss. Doesn't hurt to check things out though. Sometimes you find gems.

I have that dress too! And the yellow one, and the trench, and … well, I won't continue the list but the patterns were TDF and so much cheaper for me than buying the fabric and sewing a dress (afraid of mistakes). I was going to wear mine today, but I haven't figured out what I'm going to use to cover my arms. I love your bolero sweater. You look FABULOUS!

Great minds… I bought the same dress yesterday… Haven't worn it yet, though. :D

Love the dress and colors on you.

I too liked the LOL collection; the florals were just so cheery and springy. I got this dress in the yellow print (I've been on a yellow kick lately like crazy), the purple and white print floral halter dress and one of the tops. Relatively well constructed and well, the price was right.

Liberty of London! As a person who sews and crafts, I am officially jealous that you have access to that collection.

I just bought a Liberty of London dress this weekend, a flowy one with the prettiest spring floral pattern. I agree, I love this line!

Glad to hear the construction is good! So much of the line is already sold out online! Want to hit a couple of nearby targets this week to see what's actually left! Love the orange and pink!

Gorgeous! I still can't get over what a scene Target was on Sunday… But hey – I was right there in the middle – with three kids in tow. I can't say a thing!

I remember a few exceptions to the rule, too: Temperley stands out in my mind right now. And that dress is definitely one of them – I totally wrote this collection off, but now I think I have to get on it!

Oooh, loverly and amazing! You just scream "spring" in this! I saw a few of the pieces and thought they were super cute but most of the small sizes were sold out when I went at noon on Sunday… I'm sure I'll wind up buying a few pieces on my lunchbreak one day though!

You look great in that dress, Sal; I like the way you've styled it. Unfortunately, that one was sold out in my size but I bought two of the ruffle halter tops (Isis and Dunclare prints) and I agree that the quality is lovely and the prints are fab. I usually don't buy multiples but just couldn't choose…The tableware wasn't yet stocked — can't wait to take a peek!

This dress is awesome on you — and I love that you wore it today (since I'm a save-new-things-for-later person). Can't wait to see how you wear the other things you picked up! (I loved much of it but ended up buying only a sundress from the girls' section, so I'm looking forward to summery days.)

I agree with you on the T collaborations. Too much moola for not enough quality. I like my crap cheap dammit!

Anyway, this dress is dreamy! I'm all about florals right now, but I totally choke when it comes to buying them. What is wrong with me?! I also love when you wear this bolero, because it's so flattering on your teeny tiny waist!

I am loving the Liberty collection too. This is the first time I've "stalked" a collection waiting for it to be available. I ordered a dress (black isis ruffled) and top (ruffle tank-don't recall the pattern name-the white with pink, green and purple) online on Sunday morning-I hope they fit! then I went by the store too (ack! I *know*-crazy) and got a scarf and ….a dress from the girl's section (Dont' judge, but I just loved the print/pattern and they didn't have it for the ladies…and the XL fit me….). So yeah, I went a litte crazy too and I'm looking forward to your other LoL wares!

Per your post, I headed to Target for Pokemon cards and Oh! the cutest ruffly top by L of L. Most items were picked over, but I found just my size and I love it. Would have never glanced over if you hadn't featured your lovely dress by L o L.
