Outfit Roundup: Week of November 8 Continued!

by Sal on November 22, 2009 · 26 comments

So. On the week of November 8, HM and I drove down to St. Louis to visit my gran. And a lot of stuff happened.

Taupe shirtdress, thrifted
Gray sheath, thrifted
Scarf as belt, a gift from K.Line
Tights, Target
Brown Tsubo Asmik

We stopped at Pink Elephant Antiques in Livingston, IL. It was WEIRD. Full of giant fiberglass statuary, including this presumably functional ice cream stand that was, sadly, closed during our visit.

Flowered tunic, thrifted
Chain drop earrings, self-made
Skinny leather pants, Spiegel (not shown here, see below)
Alice + Olivia for Payless boots (not shown here, see below)

Sonja Shin Hodgkins was in town, and we met for a long and deeeelightful lunch. HM joined us, too. See?

Then Sonja and I went off in search of thrift bargains. Neither of us hit the jackpot, but we both picked up a few choice goodies. And we had a blast chatting and laughing at the goofy Christmas sweaters. I miss that girl already, I tell ya.

Then I was lucky enough to grab a bite with E. and A. (left to right) at a pizzeria near my gran’s house. They were just as sweet, smart, and fashionable in person as they are in their fantastic posts over at academichic. Just check out E’s rockin’ boots and A’s gorgeous wrap sweater:

Patterned dress, vintage sale
Teal tee, Target
Purple leggings, American Apparel
Tsubo Kison

We swung by WashU to check out the campus, which is GORGEOUS, people. I work on what I consider to be a truly gorgeous college campus, but this place took my breath away.

Patterned dress, vintage sale
Brown cardi, Dress Barn
Brown leggings, Target
Brown Tsubo Asmik

We took the long way both ways, snaking through Iowa instead of cutting into Illinois for the whole way. We stopped at this abandoned house just before grabbing lunch on our way home.

Dress Barn was kind enough to send me a coupon for a free sweater. I’d never visited any of their shops before, and was delighted by the number of darling sweaters and accessories I found there – it was hard to choose! But I loved the unusual shape of this little brown number. I’m sure I’ll be wearing it all winter.

All in all a great and very bloggy little trip! I’m still missing my girls, my gran, and cruising along with my hubby …

LOVE the brown dress with the leggings! I have to say that you inspire me to step outside my comfort zone and try pairing new things that I normally wouldnt!

Sounds like a fabulous trip!

Ah, Wash U…my DH and I fell in love over many conversations in the lounge located in the building shown in your first and third Wash U photos, the one with all the arches that forms one side of the Quad. I can't believe that was more than 20 years ago. I love that place.

Love the outfits!

I am a WU alum and when I visited campus, I was sold because it was so what I dreamed a university would look like (plus a pretty darn good school). Glad you had fun in STL; I love this town.

The shoes in the last few shots are freakin gorgeous! Have they been a weekend shoe feature yet? Did I miss it?

That Twistee Treat is missing its Cherry on top. The one I used to go to when I lived in Florida lost its cherry in a hurricane.

Too bad they weren't open – they have the best dipped ice cream comes. I am surprised there was one there, I thought it was a Florida chain?

HI- you picked a great weekend to come to St. Louis! (I moved here from Chicago last year to get married.) Can you clue us in on which are the best thrift shops in St. Louis?

Great post!

Are you sure that flowered "tunic" isn't a dress? It's really great!
