Orange pumps, Perlina Celebrity via Endless
Necklace, Patina years and years ago
I’ve been wanting to do hot pink and orange together since spring, but got hung up on the fact that I didn’t have a pink top that went with my orange bottoms, or vice versa. Then, PING! I realized I could just throw some white into the mix.
These orange pumps are new and they are astoundingly comfy. First day out, walked all over the damn place, didn’t feel a thing. Now regret not snapping them up in green, too.
Black cigarette pants, Banana Republic
Studded heeled gladiators, Madden Girl Lusterus
Earrings from a cheap shop in SF
This was one of six – count ‘em, six – cigarette-pant-based outfits I concocted for beautiful Sydne over at Think Thru Fashion. It was part of an ongoing feature she does showcasing bloggers that take a single item and remix it a bunch of different times. I changed up my shoes and accessories, but the meat of the outfit remained the same. See my other looks here!
Red mini, thrifted
Snakeskin heels, Vince Camuto
Necklace, Dana LeBlanc
Brushed silver bangles and earrings, Fringe in Edina
My friend Amirali came in from L.A. for a visit and hosted a gathering at Azia. It was a Thursday, and although I was nonplussed about going out on A SCHOOLNIGHT, I got as gussied as I could.
Green corduroy skirt, Boden, chopped by me
Strappy sandals, Dr. Scholl’s
Silver bracelets a gift from my mom (Hi, Mom!)
Leather cuff, Heavenly Soles – sadly, now out of business
This is my ideal casual Friday getup – a cute graphic tee, little skirt, and funky shoes. I love the purple and green together, and although I am certainly capable of pairing these colors together on my own, in this case I was picking the green up from the shirt’s graphic.
And when I peer down at my finger-length toes, it makes me think of something that Husband Mike envies about me:
White tank, Esprit
Denim pencil skirt, thrifted
Gray platforms, Kenneth Cole Rocky Canyon
Chalk turquoise necklace, a street vendor in SF
I wore this to HM’s gallery opening this month. I once described these shoes as “surprisingly comfortable” to Trinknitty. She scoffed. And after standing around a gallery for two hours in them I hear what she’s saying.
I stole the white shirt, white blazer, colorful statement necklace combo from a recent InStyle spread featuring Michelle Pfieffer. It felt very fresh and fun and I’d totally do it again for work.
Jersey maxi skirt, Express last winter
Silver gladiators, Old Navy
Another stolen look! This time from Kyla over at Blue Collar Catwalk. And honestly? I think she wore it better since the proportions aren’t quite right for me. But this was one of those outfits in which “interesting” won out over “flattering on my bod.” I just liked the look, I was super comfy, and wanted to try it out.
You’ll also note that, after much kicking and screaming, I actually caved and bought some gladiators. I tried on this pair at ON to see if they were as unflattering as I’d guessed they would be and, surprisingly, they weren’t. At $10 a pair, and with a recently acquired gift card, I bought them in silver and brown. They were ideal for this outfit since the skirt was hiked up enough that heels looked totally goofy!
