This week I love ...

... that it's finally bracelet season.

I have many, MANY more necklaces than I have bracelets. This is because I am yet to find a truly elegant way to wear a chunky silver cuff when it's 30 below zero and I'm bundled up inside three shirts and a sweater. But as you can see, my wristwear collection is still fairly extensive, and I do enjoy putting it to good use.

I have never been able to figure out if I am "big boned" or "small boned" because I have a wide pelvis and very broad shoulders, but teeny weeny ankles and wrists. I can't say as I indulge in anklets, but I do enjoy drawing attention to my ladylike wrists by wearing bracelets as often as weather and sleeve-length allow.

And yes, the bangle-holder pictured is a paper towel rack from Target. Hey, whatever works, right?

Ingenious use of a paper towel holder! Love your collection of bracelets - I have serious wrist envy!

I love some of those braclets. I love to wear them as well, it is just majority of ones I love will not go over my wrists. I do not think I have big wrists bones, but I guess I do. This problem does, however allow me to turn my attention to necklaces, rings and sunglasses to spiff up the accessories. I am into headbands and scarfs this year too. I know it was last year for some but I like to always flow on another wave than most.=)

I use a slim vase, that holds a single rose/flower... and I put my bracelets around it, and put a silk flower in the vase... very pretty!!

I love the paper towel rack idea! ;) I have a nice sized collection of bangles and bracelets (I tend to be drawn to chain-style and charm bracelets the most), but like you, I wear them most during the warmer seasons!

I can't figure out about the big boned/small boned thing either! :p It's a trait in my family to have small wrists and hands, that don't necessarily match the rest of the body structure. So, if you ever find a brilliant way to figure out how to tell what "bone build" you are, do enlighten us! ;)

What a great idea for storage! I love wearing bracelets, but most of them are too big for my wrist - it's really rare for me to find one that won't fall off.

my personal opinion? i would say you are small (maybe small to medium?) boned. only because i there is no question about whether or not i am big-boned and you are significantly smaller than me, ha! i have never felt comfortable in bracelets and i envy those who do. i don't know if it's something i just need to get used to, or if i haven't found the right style. i just feel like they usually look to small and make my wrists/hands look bigger than they already are. sigh.

great idea w/the paper towel holder! It is better than a toilet paper roll holder... :-)

That's a pretty cool way of storing your bracelet collection! Hmm in the winter I wonder if you could wear a 3/4 sleeve with arm warmers and layer a chunky bangle over the arm warmer? Just a thought. :-)

I actually find that a bangle can look nice OVER a sweater in the winter, a pretty treat that is all wrapped up under my coat until central heating allows me to reveal it.

As for your fairly extensive bracelet collection - LOVE IT.

I never got a chance to comment on your Sunday shoes post, cos you just post so damn fast, and blogger decided to do some maintenance *as* I tried to comment... so I'll say it now, you are a shoe legend... when will this sunday series EVER end? :D

I love the paper towel holder idea! (Seems like something I'd see in Real Simple.) Currently all my bracelets are residing in the smallest bathroom drawer in our master bath... I have to dig around to find what I want.

Lots of lovely delights! I've got tiny wrists so rarely find a bracelet to fit but I do love them.

First, let me say that although this is only my second time I've commented, I've been following your blog for a few weeks now. It has promptly become my favorite! I think you're amazing, and I LOVE what you write. I simply ADORE your reflections on body image and such.

The fashion advice is fabulous! I'm 19, so I'm still just discovering fashion and what looks good...I hope to be as good at it as you some day!

I adore pics of your shoe/jewelery collections, so thanks for the bracelet discussion today!

I envy your pretty bracelets. I love bracelets, and always want to wear them, but my wrists (and ankles) are tiny. My wrists are less than five and a half inches around, so I have to buy children's bracelets (and watches) if I want to wear them at all, which just makes me feel silly. I have only one bracelet I wear, which my parents had custom made for me as a birthday present.

To top if off my hands are so long I have to wear men's gloves, and I'm 5'9". So I guess it's better that I don't draw attention to how small my wrists are, it just makes my odd proportions that much more obvious.

I used to have bracelets, not many. Today I only have one. A thick, white gold chain, which I wear daily. This is ideal for me. I do like jewelry, but my taste is too expensive; the ones I desire, I cannot afford. So I´ll settle for the one I have. However I do like bracelets on other people. You have a really nice collection!

i also love bracelets, but they always get in the way - you know? when i'm writing or washing my hands or i'm on the computer, they're just in the way. so i don't wear dangly ones. watches and a small charm bracelet is as far as i go:)

Yes - you need some bare arm for a bracelet!

That's a good way to store bracelets. Thanks for giving us a peek into your collections!

genius! :d

Ah, i need more bracelets! I'm always getting necklaces and totally neglecting the wrists. I guess in general I wear a watch... and that usually bangs against bracelets. Do you wear a watch?

what a really cool idea! all of my bangles are in a bowl...so unorganized and i forget theyre there!

I used to love bracelets, but since I spend the majority of my day at work on the computer typing, wearing anything on my wrists becomes impractical. Makes me sad. I AM big-boned, so it would be nice to have some kind of feasible jewelry option to "feminize" my wide wrists.

Cool idea with the towel holder! I keep mine on one of those pants hangars where you can hang 4 pants and the bar swivels out.
