Sunday Shoes: Tsubo Acreas UPDATED

by Sal on May 24, 2009 · 26 comments

Oh my GOSH I can just hear you howling! Four pairs of the same shoe?* But here’s the thing, kittens: These are my go-to shoe for year-round wear. They are ridiculously comfortable and walkable, but also stylish and classy. The heel gives me some nice height, but isn’t towering or teetering. The asymmetric strap is fun and edgy, and makes the shoe even more secure and foot-friendly. These are my utterly perfect everyday shoes, and I’m wearing them into the ground.

The red pair came first, followed by black and brown in quick succession. The silver-gray ones are a recent eBay purchase, and have already gotten much love. I know they came in cream, too, and may eventually hunt those down. My red pair are getting beat-up enough – worn, scratched-up leather and fading color that my oil sponge is no longer helping – that I may replace them soon. Better sooner than later because Tsubo discontinued this model and they’re getting tougher and tougher to find.

UPDATED: Tsubo has let me know that the Acrea will live on! And a good thing, too, because eventually I’ll need to replace my current crop …

Yes, I know I sound like a crazy person, but believe me when I tell you that I will wear every single pair of these until they fall off my feet. If you’re looking for a pair of slightly edgy, highly walkable pumps, root around the interwebs for a pair of Tsubo Acreas. You won’t be sorry, I promise.

*Just wait till next week when I show you FIVE pairs from the same series. HAHAHAHA, I’m a nutter.

My first reaction when I saw the first photo was WTF. Those shoes are lovely though.

Nah makes sense, you gotta have a pair that does not cause pain. I just actually wrote a post on things I do to prevent pain. I love the grey pair. I will look for these.

I agree with B that makes all the sense. If they are comfortable and stylish why not have them in more than one colour???
They look so nice and lovely!!!

Great shoes and how fun to have them colors that pretty much go with everything.

That’s awesome, I am yet to find the perfect pair of shoes! I hope you manage to track down the cream pair! Good luck!

I am in love with the red ones :) And yup, if you find something that works for you, why not stock up on all the options? I do the same with Uniqlo oxford shirts, I have the same shirt in five colours.

I’m known for just buying the same things (shoes and glasses) in different colors. Sweet Sal – when you find something that works, you just have to go with it. :)

A fine idea. I haven“t done it with shoes, but I usually buy cotton T-shirts in multiple colors in the shape, if I come across with a comfortable model. I might even buy 2 of the same color.

Hi there-a shoe obsession is no bad thing, especially when you wear them most regularly!!

LOLLLL!!! HAHAHA Sal oh man you are too cute XDD Though I totally can see where you’re coming from. My mum does the same thing too! When she sees a pair she really likes that’s the functional, foolproof sort to go with loads of outfits she just gets another one in a different color. Her max is 2 though haha so I’ve never come across anyone who bought 4 or 5 of the same… I really wanna see the 5 series ones! XD

hahaha, you are a nutter. I laughed out loud at that one. I so enjoy your sense of humor! The shoes aren’t my style but they’re cool looking.

They are gorgeous, and I don’t blame you for buying them in four colors. When you find a shoe that you love, it makes sense to get them in as many colors as possible.

I’m all for this. I can’t say that I’ve ever had FOUR pairs of the same style in different colors – but two pairs in both black and brown have always been a given for me.

Don’t buy cream shoes unless you have something specific in mind. Cream seems like a neutral that goes with everything – but it doesn’t. Plus – it reminds me of the terrible white mary janes fad the was so popular in the late ’90s. Don’t remember it? There is a reason for that…

That is a really great shoe! I have been known to buy 2 pairs of the same color shoe if it is something I think that I will wear to death, so I totally get it:)

Hey, if I could I would do the same. Finding a pair of comfortable, stylish shoes is something that occurs in my life once every five or so years. I think next time it happens I’ll just buy as many pairs as I can afford in different colors.

Thanks for sharing your opinion on these shoes. I wear my bland Dansko clogs in rotation, interspersed with boots that I love, and I rarely touch the two pairs of heels (that’s right, only two pairs) that I own. I would be so happy to have a pair of heels that I could wear for more than special occasions. I’m putting these on my list of purchases to consider when my wardrobe shopping hiatus is over!

Not crazy at all. I have 3 of the same pair/design and am hunting the last remaining color available. If it came in more colors, I’d have snagged them too.

A perfect shoe is a perfect shoe. It always breaks my heart a little when a good design is abandoned :(

Thank goodness for ebay!

I just went on the Amazon and purchased a black pair of these (OMG THEY CAME IN MY SIZE – I’m a size 11 and shoe-finding is hard). I purchased solely on your recommendation, so I will let you know the outcome. I have been on the hunt for a comfortable, stylish pair of black heels forever and ever and ever. Here’s hoping!

I also buy the same shoe in different colors due to the infrequency in which I find comfortable, stylish size 11s. Sometimes I even buy 2 of the same exact color shoe because I know I will kill a pair with constant wear. For example, I recently found black pointed-toe flats at the Nine West outlet and practically fell over myself to purchase two. So you aren’t (that) weird. I can’t wait to see the series of 5!!

Hi there. I’m Errin and I work for Tsubo. I have a pair of cream Acreas with your name on them! Email me at Errin.cecil-smith@deckers.com so I can get your size and address. Anyone who loves her Tsubo Acreas enough to take such beautiful shots of them and write a post deserves a free pair! Have a great day!

I think you've convinced me. I'm going to try some out the next time I find a pair. This idea that people have that you "break in" your shoes has always left me scratching my head. If they're not comfortable, I'm not wearing them.

These are very stylish!
