Shoe Swap 2008 is in Effect!

UPDATE: Hi folks - this swap is now closed. Sorry to any latecomers! I hope to do this again should this first go-round be a success, so check back.

OK, gang, here we go! I am officially opening Shoe Swap 2008 to anyone interested in participating. I will cut off the entries at 50, but don't imagine I'll get that many unless you gorgeous lurkers come out in droves. Please read carefully.

If you'd like to play, please e-mail me at alreadypretty@gmail.com no later than Friday, September 12, at noon CST with your:

- Shoe size (include American and European sizing, please, www.continentalimport.com/sizechart.html to convert)

- Mailing address

- Any restrictions you have for the shoes you will receive. As I mentioned, restrictions should be things like "I can't walk in heels over 3 inches" or "I am morally opposed to wearing leather." Anyone who says, "I'd really like a pair of patent Louboutins, preferably red or silver" will not be allowed to play.

I will sift through the participants, and put you in touch with your swap partner. This is a BLIND SWAP so no need to send photos of any sort. If you don't like surprises, my girl fleur_delicious kindly pointed out that there is a swap resource of amazing proportions over at Wardrobe Swap Shop. Join the Flickr group and play in their sandbox if the idea of getting utterly unknown shoes wigs you out.

Should we have an uneven number of people with matching shoe sizes, my backup plan is to see about a potential accessory exchange. I'll be in touch with any unmatched wimmins about that, should the problem arise.

I'm hoping participants who blog will both spread the word about the swap AND post photos of their received shoes once the swap is complete. I wanna see what everyone gets, don't you?

NOW. To recap the rules of play.

1. Shoes, boots, and sandals are all fair game. No slippers, flip flops, or Crocs.

2. No crap. Meaning, no shoes from Target, Payless, or similar. Nothing that stinks incurably of your own feet. And nothing that is so beat to hell that the Salvation Army would chuck it. We're on the honor system here, so don't abuse it. Send a pair you can imagine someone being delighted to receive.

3. Send only shoes you are totally willing to part with. Don't buy anything new, just pick a pair from your existing stash that you know you'll never wear again.

4. You must be willing to accept what you get with no complaints. Since taste is highly personal, you might receive a pair you loathe. Since shoe sizing can get wonky, your pair might not fit quite right. Don't make a stink, just chalk it up to experimentation.

5. You must be willing to dig around on your partner's blog to get some sense of her style. If your partner doesn't blog, take the time to find out a little bit about her via e-mail. You may not have the perfect pair on-hand and ready to give away, but you'll have a sense of what she might consider a dud.

6. You must be willing to pay international postage. We're a worldwide empire here at Already Pretty and there's no WAY I'm excluding my lovely non-American readers, should they choose to participate. You can send your package using the slowest, cheapest means available. Send it via carrier pigeon! Just be prepared to shell out whatever it takes to get your shoes to a far off land.

Make sense? OK good. Now, LET'S PLAY!!

Wishing you so much success - I don't think I have anything i can bear to part with, but I will review my shoe collection (such as it is) and if I find something I can put in the swap, I'll sign up!

Hooray! I love all my shoes, and want to keep them all, but will cheer from the sidelines.

It seems I'm a little late on this swap and I stumbled across this blog seeking shoe fiends and swappers. My website, shoemadam.com, I made for shoe peeps to ogle at shoes and meet fellow shoe lovers.

Would love to build the community from the ground up.
